Last year, Cigar Oasis announced that their next line of electronic humidifiers would be Wi-Fi capable and you would be able to view and adjust your humidor's humidity from anywhere. Naturally, this got the attention of many cigar smokers including myself. After spending quite a few months with the unit, I will give you my thoughts. This review will go through the set-up process, functionality of the unit and the app, and some overall conclusions.
XlKAR rounds out its lighter category with the Volta, a quad flame tabletop and the first of its kind. Built on a strong, stout foundation, the Volta makes any table look important with its' size and form. It will be introduced at IPCPR 2015 in New Orleans. Keep reading below for our review.
This year, Xikar debuted two brand new products, the Volta, and the Forte, both of which we covered in depth in our exclusive pre-IPCPR info and reviews. They also showed off a couple new designs, and some changes to older products that you can watch Scott Almsberger - Chief Design Officer & Co- Founder talk about in this video.
Michael asked us to review this new product and I decided to tackle this one. To sum it up in two words: it works! Honest to God, it really does what it says, I know it sounds too good to be true. Now, it does have it's limitations, it's not a miracle worker, but it's close.
This is a great set both in appearance and performance and would make a great gift or starter set. I highly recommend this product, just most other Xikar products. The set has a retail price of $129 which I think is reasonable for the quality you get and the lifetime guarantee that makes Xikar awesome.
Others may not find as much value in this as I do, living at high altitude, but even if I didn't I would still get one of these for how wind-proof it is. It would be perfect for those windy BBQ's, sporting events or hikes.
The hot rod inspired Forte is built on a newly designed chassis, delivering consistent performance, time after time. Designed for the on-the-go lifestyle, choose your style.
At this year’s IPCPR in New Orleans I ran into Michael of Whiff Out on the show floor and then at one of the cigar after parties. Michael talked about how amazing Whiff Out worked and said I should try it. A few weeks after the show I got in contact with him and he was kind enough to send me some samples to review and try out.
Overall I think this is a great little starter kit for someone just getting into the hobby, you really don’t have to think about anything, and it just works. I think the more experienced hobbyist might be frustrated with its minor limitations, but what it its intended to do, it does really well. I would definitely recommend this to someone that wants to buy a humidor but doesn’t know what next to do.
The basic design of the cigar cutter hasn't changed much in the last 100 years. Sure, you have different shapes, different number of blades, and of course there are many levels of quality, but the basic design has remained the same. Until now.
