Blender
The flavor profile on this blend was great with a solid bitter dark chocolate flavor later mixed with some nice baking spices and smokiness. A sneaky black pepper kick made me want to retrohale often to spice up the blend even more. There was just a slight construction or leaf problem causing a major central tunnel in the first couple of inches that weighed this stick down. I'd want to try it again in hopes of getting the full start-to-finish experience." -Lauren S. (Lauren S.)
E.P. Carrillo has announced a new limited edition cigar in celebration of the United State's Independence: E.P. Carrillo Pledge of Allegiance 2023. This release includes 1,776 (1776 was the year the U.S. declared independence from Britain) boxes to be allocated to retailers. On top of the patriotic name, the cigar combines the names of two existing E.P. Carrillo lines: Pledge and Allegiance.
Selected Tobacco has announced the Alfonso Gran Selección for PCA 2023 in Las Vegas. The Alfonso Gran Selección is the followup to the Alfonso Añejo that debuted at last year’s trade show. "Overall, this was an excellent cigar. The flavors were excellent, and the texture of the smoke was perfect. The draw could have been a little better, but still very good. All in all, I would most definitely smoke this cigar again, and I’m curious to see what it turns out to be." -Angel M. (Angel)
"Until that last third I would have said that this was a fairly linear cigar with minimal transition. The last third saved it a little bit but I’m not sure most people would have stuck around for it. I would have been one of them. If you are a fan of a light, liner cigar this will be for you. I’ll be interested to see what this cigar is so I can give it another shot." -Estevan Z. (TheRealBanzi)
C.L.E. Cigar Company has announced that their TAA exclusive Eiroa Dark 11/18 is now shipping. The Eiroa Dark line launched in 2019. The difference in the TAA Exclusive is the size, which happens to be the Eiroa family’s signature 11/18 size. Only five hundred boxes were created.
"This was a very good cigar. It started out with quite a bit of earthy tones with wood and walnuts, as the cigar progressed it produced more sweet tobacco notes as well as some creaminess. The cigar ended up with the sweetness, cream, and then a bit more wood flavors to finish the cigar. I would definitely smoke this again. I would say this is at least worth a fiver purchase. " -Mickey T. (irratebass)
Crowned Heads has announced its tenth iteration of their Las Calaveras line, Las Calaveras EL 2023. For the first time since 2016, and only the second time in its history, the 2023 Las Calaveras will use a Grade A Dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.
The Atabey Black Ritos, originally announced and sold as a "virtual cigar" in the form of an NFT in 2021, is making it's way to the real world in the latter half of 2023. After going through Selected Tobacco owner Nelson Alfonso’s five year aging process, the cigars are now ready to be enjoyed in United Cigar Lounges across the US. Atabey Black Ritos claimed to be the first NFT cigar in the world, limited to 25 single cigar and 10 boxes as unique digital images. The Atabey Black Ritos NFT sales proceeds were raised for Cigar Rights of the World. Now, the real life cigar will be featured at PCA 2023 in Las Vegas, NV with a scheduled ship time to retailers in December 2023.
