Initial Impressions – Troianiello Maduro Robusto

Appearance: 94

“The attractive dark, oily wrapper is very slick to the touch and there’s just the right amount of give when gently squeezed between two fingers.” – (CadeTNCC)

Aroma: 93

“Sweet dark chocolate goodness off of the foot along with some nice leather notes.” – ()

First Third
– Blind Cigar Review

First Third

Flavor: 93
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“The cold draw reveals a rich, juicy sweetness and my lips start tingling before I’ve even set this cigar on fire. Upon ignition, there’s an immediate medium strength black pepper through the nose and bold woodsy flavors coat your palate via the draw. Smoke production is copious with beautiful white smoke pouring off the foot. Around the one-inch mark, a dark roast coffee note and just a slight hint of mineral begin to arise on the draw.” – (CadeTNCC)

“This cigar cut cleanly and has just a hair too much resistance for my liking but I can still get air through it. Dark fruit, plum, in particular, greets my palate. It has a beautiful sweetness to it. The finish leaves a slight mineral tinge on the tip of the tongue. Ample smoke output seems to be the norm for this stick.” – (Keikan Jim)

Second Third

Second Third

Flavor: 93
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full

“Still holding at a solid medium this blend has surprised me with its smoothness. A creamy note has sweetened and smoothed out the espresso flavor making this a very enjoyable third.” – ()

“So far this cigar is fairly one dimensional, albeit a great dimension. Complex earthy notes and dark fruity sweetness are right up my alley. A slightly salty mineral taste on the finish and a very smooth retro-hale top it all off.” – (Keikan Jim)

Final Third

Final Third

Flavor: 93
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full

“The grassy notes on the pre-light return and mixed well with the black pepper notes. After a few more puffs, a slight hint of jasmine comes through.” – (fullermaine)

“This is a fast-burning stogie so I’m having to force myself to be disciplined and slow down a bit with it which is difficult because (A) I’m really enjoying the cigar and (B) I suck at self-discipline. The draw has completely opened up now in the final third erasing the only minor issue I’ve encountered as far construction is concerned. The retrohale continues to be dominated by black pepper and mineral while the draw’s profile remains consistent with the middle third: bold oak and dark roast coffee featuring a slight resurgence of the mineral towards the very end of the smoking experience.” – (CadeTNCC)

Overall Impressions – Troianiello Maduro Robusto

Draw: 90

“Although the draw was a touch on the firm side during the first third, it loosened up a little giving it a nice even draw to finish out the smoke.” – (Keikan Jim)

Burn: 97

“I never had to re-light or touch up this stick at all. A beautiful burn line and nice holding ash.” – ()

Construction: 94

“Other than the slightly tight draw at first, this has been a beautiful cigar. The razor-sharp and nice slow burn speak volumes on the construction.” – (Keikan Jim)

“This dark, oily cigar did not disappoint. Rich, consistently bold flavors accentuated by a powerful, spicy retrohale all gift-wrapped in a consistent cloud of beautiful white smoke that never stopped pouring from both ends. This cigar would pair amazingly with a glass of scotch, bourbon, cabernet, coffee, or even some chocolate milk. How’s that for options? I will most definitely be seeking this cigar out to smoke again.” – (CadeTNCC)

“Not a bad smoke, the flavors were good, the burn was ok. Would pair well with black coffee or hot black tea.” – (Bearded Bastard)

“This was an amazing cigar until the final third. The solid leather keeping an even flavor throughout mixed with the espresso and mocha notes made this a great after-dinner cigar until it turned. The sudden harsh bitterness had me fighting to the finish. The beginning was enough to make me want to try this again in hopes I just had some bad luck on the final third.” – ()

“Another great smoke! Great notes of sweet tea, grass, nuttiness, and black pepper with a subtle hint of jasmine at the end. Strong ash throughout this cigar. A nice smoke to have with a cup of coffee. A cigar I’d seek out and put in my humidor.” – (fullermaine)

“I really enjoyed the rich flavors and following sweetness this cigar provided. The burn was dead on with an abundance of thick chewy smoke. Highly recommend it to those who enjoy and dark rich smoke.” – (Keikan Jim)
