Blind Cigar Review: E.P. Carrillo | Selección Oscuro Especial No. 6

“If you are in to earthy, spicy cigars, that perform well and don’t disappoint, then this is a cigar for you. It developed from medium to the high end of medium full throughout that smoking experience on an almost linear level. No abrupt changes in strength or body, and no re-lights or touchups needed. While it did end up a little bitter and spicy at the end, novice smokers should feel no fear with this cigar, as long as it is paired with something to offset the strength at the end, like a nice aged rum. Stout beer would overrun it, as would cask strength scotch or barrel proof bourbon. All in all a great experience that I look forward to trying again!” -Kevin A. (Kevin A.)

“While definitely a mild to medium bodied cigar, it delivers where it matters. The flavors worked so well together. No really big transitions, but nonetheless it was very enjoyable and I would definitely smoke more of these. I’d give this a score of ‘great’. Highly recommended. ” -Kevin J. (maninblack77)

“Nubworthy, buy a box, smoke one every day, what else can I say? This cigar was extremely enjoyable from pre light to nub. The flavor transitions were amazing and the complexity, which is sometimes not a good thing, was 100% on point here. It starts of medium and sweet and finished bold and zesty. Not so sweet that it is hard to pair with a beverage and not so spicy that it wrecks your palate. Well balanced, well blended. These will be a permanent resident in the humidor!” -Kevin A. “The final third of this cigar really upped the enjoyment factor. It took it from good to very good in my opinion. I have always been a fan of cigars with many transitions, and this one did not let me down and threw in a completely unexpected and unique flavor, that made the cigar a true star. The strength and body stayed right in the medium range and can be enjoyed by anyone. The flavors would go well with morning coffee as well as a lighter bodied beer that won’t overrun it. I am really looking forward to finding out what this cigar is and recommend you try it when the secret is out! ” -Kevin A. (Kevin A.)

Blind Cigar Review: Villiger | La Vencedora Churchill

“Just in terms of flavor this was actually a very good cigar. The smoke output was creamy, the draw was nice if I held it just right, and it burned well even with an almost destroyed wrapper. The size was very large though and with the lack of profile changes did make it a bit one dimensional.” -Alan (Eulogy)

I liked this cigar quite a bit. While I was initially worried about that strong mesquite woodsiness overpowering any other flavors that might come my way, the cigar managed – and managed well – to balance that with some other flavor notes that made this smoking experience one that I wouldn’t mind at all revisiting.” -Matt Cade (CADE)

“Featuring very little in the way of complexity and with only some minor transitions throughout the smoking experience, I won’t go so far as to say this is a boring cigar. Blind Cigar Review: AVO | Improvisation LE20

“The cigar started off well, developed nicely, then finished with a slight harshness that wasn’t quite enjoyable. It heated up quite a bit in the final third. Maybe smoking it slower would eliminate this, but I am not 100% sure. All in all a decent smoke. The power behind it as it transitioned through the final two thirds was a bit of a surprise, and may prove too strong for a newer smoker. I was expecting it to stay in the medium range with the sweeter notes from the beginning.” -Kevin A. (Kevin A.)
