Blind Cigar Review: J.C. Newman | The American No. 3
“The aroma of berries and chocolate were very inviting and promising. However, upon lighting, the chocolate turned to a coffee flavor with hints of berries. It was a pleasant cigar int he beginning. As I approach the second third, the berries slowly diminished and the coffee flavor took over. The one plus was the pepper flavors that left a nice tingle on the lips. As time went on, the coffee turned bitter like the bottom of a pot that had been sitting on the burner far too long. Eventually I was left with a bitter taste with only the peppery tingle keeping me going. Not sure if I would want this one again.” -Eric (smalls29)

“Overall this cigar was very mild, very smooth, very one dimensional. No pepper spice at anywhere during the smoke. There are some people out there that like a super mild, no spice Connecticut. I am not one of those people. Even though this cigar was extremely well made, it’s just not my thing.” -Wes (SosaCub4Life)

“All of the flavors were crisp and even though it took awhile to get there the pay off was certainly worth it. I would certainly recommend picking up a five pack and would smoke this anytime it was offered.” -Alan (Eulogy)

“Incredibly tasty cigar. The flavors evolved and mingled perfectly till the end. Other than some construction issues I had, I would recommend this to anyone. Very flavorful, excellent smoke output, and a great burn is everything you look for in a top notch cigar. Perfect everyday cigar. ” -Alan (Eulogy)

“This was a fantastic cigar. There was a lot going on with it. It was very creamy with cedar notes along with a sugary sweetness that lingered on my lips and to top that off there was a yeast doughnut flavor on the retro! C’mon! Pick up a box now! I just know this would have paired wonderfully with a cup of coffee on a Sunday morning. ” -Mickey T. (irratebass)

“In terms of transitions or flavor profile changes this cigar really didn’t have any. That’s not to say it wasn’t an enjoyable smoke though. The core flavors of pepper, cedar, sweetness, leather, and espresso worked really well together. I couldn’t say that this cigar wowed me but it was a really nice cigar with just enough going on to keep my interest. Depending on price I would say you should definitely give this cigar a try. ” -Jeff (ExpendableYouth)

“I really enjoyed this cigar. It had just enough transitions to keep me interested and just kept getting better as I went along. There was a lot of creamy coco, brown sugar, leather, hay, and woodiness notes that all worked together in a really nice way. I would suggest trying one for yourself. ” -Jeff (ExpendableYouth)

“This was a thoroughly enjoyable smoke that I could recommend to anyone that enjoys medium bodied and flavorful cigars. The flavor profile of light brown sugar, spices, and figs were very enjoyable as they each took turns highlighting themselves. Definitely a box where the smoke that I would buy multiples of!” -John A. (Bostoneo)

“I really liked this cigar. It performed beautifully, it gave me lots of sweet chocolate flavors with a bit of white pepper and some baking spices. It never got above a medium in strength, and I even caught myself a few times looking at the cigar and saying out loud “Wow this is good.” Would definitely smoke more, if not purchase a box. ” -Mickey T. “Even though this cigar was a mild/medium taste, the woody flavors had a nice balance throughout. There were flavors of oak and cherry wood with a nice campfire aroma coming from the smoke. The after-taste was not over powering and left a nice taste behind. Even though a bitter flavor showed, it did not come until almost at the end. Overall I am very pleased and would love to enjoy this one again.” -Eric (smalls29)

“This was a good cigar that surprised me with how creamy it was despite the looks of the cigar. I was expecting a powerhouse of a smoke, but it was a medium in strength with plenty of flavors of cocoa, nuts and some coffee. ” -Mickey T. (irratebass)

“If you could roll up an espresso stout into a cigar, it would probably be a lot like this one. Cocoa nibs and coffee permeated the cigar from start to finish, with little else going on other than an increase of body. The flavors were good, but there was little to keep me interested for long.” –Isaac M. (The Nothing)
