Blind Cigar Review: Caldwell | Hit and Run Corona Gorda

“I was very surprised by this stick. After the light aromas on the prelight, the cigar was full of great flavors. It was very cubanesque from the look and vitola to the flavor. I would love to smoke this in the morning with a cup of coffee. The stick had a couple of faults but was easy to overlook because the flavor was so good. I even nubbed this thing all the way down.” -Matt (Mattehh)

“Have you ever lit up a cigar with no preconceived notions, and after the fist puff you say to yourself, or out loud “Damn, this is nice?” well I did and that same thought stayed with me the entire smoke. Just a great amount of cream/honey and sweetness. This would be an excellent first cigar of the day with or without coffee. My only complaint was it was so short, but maybe that was the maker’s intention, to keep you coming back for more. I personally would like to keep these in my humi, for when I need that perfect smoking experience. ” -Mickey T. (irratebass)

“This cigar started very mild and while I was hoping for some change, it remained mild and pretty flavorless throughout. While the cigar’s appearance, draw, and construction is very good overall, it lacked in flavor and depth. I do not think I would recommend this cigar.” -David F. (David F.)

“This was such an enjoyable cigar. It was not a powerhouse, and it was not overly complex, but it was flavorful all the way. I enjoyed each puff, and the sweet/spice mix was really a nice combo at the end of the day. It also looked beautiful, and had no performance issues, so no extra work on the part of the smoker in order to enjoy the cigar. This one would have a place in my humidor. ” -Matthew T. “While a pretty simple stick with no transitions or changes detected from beginning to end, this was still a really good smoke with plenty of flavor provided, a great flavor profile, and no maintenance required. I’d happily smoke this one again and recommend it to a friend. ” -Dave W. (mdwest)

“Really good cigar. Solid core flavors, great initial flavor blast from the closed foot, and some interesting transitions along the way. There were a few minor construction issues, it wasn’t tremendously nuanced and it got a little flat toward the end, but there’s still good stuff happening here. I’d smoke a ton of these. ” -John I. Blind Cigar Review: Dunhill | Aged Maduro Short Robusto

“This is a fairly short-lived cigar, easy smoking in under an hour, and probably just over a half hour smoke for most people. Each third had a distinct change of flavors that could easily be detected without looking. I found myself enjoying this one, a lot. But, it could use some glue. The tendency for the wrapper to unravel kept me distracted and, ultimately forced me to score the cigar lower than I would have liked based on flavor alone. That said, I’d give it another go in hopes that it’d stay together.” -Isaac M. (The Nothing)

“I really enjoyed this cigar. The flavors were plentiful and full and right in my wheelhouse. The aroma of this cigar is the reason I started to smoke cigars. Something about the smell reminded me of my childhood (I realize this sounds corny, but it is true). I will definitely be smoking more of these in the future and just hope the price tag is kind to the wallet.” -Adam B. (Bushboy)

“Dinner was done and the air was finally starting to cool when I went out to give this cigar a try. I was blown away initially by the huge flavors this cigar produced and I couldn’t have been luckier to have waited until early evening to smoke the cigar. It is quite intense, and I’m sure a lot of people would call it harsh. I couldn’t imagine smoking this earlier in the day.” -Isaac M. (The Nothing)

“This was an excellent cigar, and one I may request before facing execution by a firing squad. Flavors, complexity, and construction are all on point. I believe this is a cigar that will stand up to multiple cigars a day as the flavors are bold and evident. I’ll be seeking these out if they are readily available in this exact vitola, no additional aging time is needed. Smoke this cigar after a salty fatty steak and thank me later.” -Matt C. (Big Matt)
