Cigar Info
Nomos is a brand new cigar company, and made their first PCA appearance this year, although their inaugural launch took place in 2021. Nomos Cigars was created by two lawyers from New York: Jerrold Miles and Corey Turner. The company launched with just one cigar in one size, the Nomos Toro that measures 6 x 56.
This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience.
The blend for the Nomos Toro uses a Cameroon wrapper, Indonesian Sumatra binder, and filler from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The company says that the filler includes a Dominican seco that has been aged for eight years and Nicaragua criollo that has been aged for five years. Each cigar has a retail price of $14.25 and comes in boxes of 12. While this is the only cigar available from Nomos at the moment, the company says it is working on more for 2023. This first cigar was blended Manuel Inoa, and rolled at the La Aurora factory.

Initial Impressions – Nomos Toro
Appearance: 89
“It looks good. I like the toothy feel of the medium-brown wrapper and the seams are pretty tight. The triple cap is a little undersized for such a large cigar but well applied. ” –Alan (Eulogy)
Aroma: 93
“Leather warehouse and a little barnyard. The aroma is very faint.” –Ryan H. (Ryan H.)
First Third
Flavor: 89
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“A very cayenne spicy taste directly after lighting. The draw is amazing. A very wonderful sweet cedar Joins after burn-in. Rich oiled leather is quick to follow with fruity undertones that are similar to rose water or apples A very clean taste. Very pleasing to the palate very balanced. Very strong ash. Burn could not be more straight.” –Ryan H. (Ryan H.)
“The notes of sweet tea on the lighting gives way to bitter tea notes.” –Sean F. (fullermaine)
Second Third
Flavor: 90
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“The bitter tea notes bounce back to the sweet tea notes.” –Sean F. (fullermaine)
“Going into the 2nd third of the cigar still getting the buttery flavor. Notes of cedar and oak have started to hit the tongue. There is now some red pepper spice that hits the tip of the tongue. Retrohale is still a smoky wood fire flavor. The after taste that was present in the first part has gone away. ” –Chad M. (Chad Tchad)
Final Third
Flavor: 89
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“The super loose draw is causing this to burn at an incredible rate making the nicotine overwhelming. The dry bitter profile has never changed and my mouth is starting to feel a bit raw. ” –Alan (Eulogy)
“The flavors are still very subtle. The flavor continues with buttery and cedar flavors. The previous spice has gone away. The retrohale continues with wood fire smoky flavor. ” –Chad M. (Chad Tchad)
Overall Impressions – Nomos Toro
Draw: 92
“The draw was pretty decent maybe on slight loose feel.” –Chad M. (Chad Tchad)
Burn: 98
“Even burn with beautiful grey-white ash that hangs on for an inch or two. Minor touch-up needed when the ash fell off.” –Sean F. (fullermaine)
Construction: 86
“Great construction other than the messy cap.” –Ryan H. (Ryan H.)
Overall Strength: Medium
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium
Experience Overall: 90
“The construction caused so many issues across the entire experience. It is an incredibly bitter and palate-drying profile that drowns out almost every flavor. The draw is super loose and caused it to overheat constantly. I remember there was a cigar made almost entirely out of stems and this one reminded me of that one since there were so many huge stems running throughout the entire cigar.” –Alan (Eulogy)
“Another great cigar that was a pleasure to smoke. Notes of sweet and bitter tea, honey, and burnt toast. Nice strong ash that hangs on for an inch or two. A cigar I’d want to have in my humidor and to share with friends. A nice after breakfast smoke.” –Sean F. (fullermaine)
“This cigar will win awards. I will buy a box and advise anyone else to do the same. This cigar is fantastic.” –Ryan H. (Ryan H.)
“This is a chunky cigar but burned pretty fast that I would not have expected. The flavor was a buttery cedar flavor with some points of some red pepper spice. The retrohale was a smoky wood fire taste. There were points an odd after taste that would hit from time to time and take away from the experience.” –Chad M. (Chad Tchad)
