Gran Habano Cigars and Laws Whiskey House have teamed up with retailer W. Curtis Draper in Washington, DC to release a special limited-edition cigar. La Pareja Perfecta is a collaboration between Laws Whiskey House and Gran Habano to support Little Puff, W. Curtis Draper's annual charity event. The 6 x 52 toro cigar has been blended to match the flavors of the whiskey barrel pick by Laws Whiskey House, which will yield only 200 bottles. The blend for the cigar was created by George A. Rico, a master blender with over 27 years of experience in the industry. The bourbon is a 4-grain (60% corn, 20% wheat, 10% rye, 10% malted barley), distilled in the summer of 2015, aged in a medium char new oak barrel before being finished in a port cask. It was proofed back down to its original entry proof of 110 and bottled for this specific project. A once-in-a-lifetime project, “La Pareja Perfecta…The Perfect Pair.”
George A. Rico worked closely with Laws Whiskey House to ensure that the blend of the cigar perfectly matches the flavor profile of the whiskey barrel pick. The result is a cigar that offers a unique and enjoyable smoking experience, with notes of oak, vanilla, and spice that perfectly complement the flavors of the whiskey. The blend of the cigar consists of a Nicaraguan Shade-Grown wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and filler from Nicaragua and Peru. Only 300 boxes of the special 6 x 52 toro cigar will be produced for the 2023 production, with each box containing 10 cigars. The MSRP for each box will be $180 dollars.
Laws Whiskey House, founded in 2011 by Al and Marianne Laws, is an award-winning American distillery in Denver, Colorado that produces a variety of whiskies in small batches. Each batch is milled, cooked, fermented, distilled, and aged onsite, utilizing heirloom American grains from family-owned Colorado farms. The practice of open-air, on-grain fermentation captures the essence of Colorado's terroir while the custom Vendome Copper pot-column still produces a robust, grain-forward style of whiskey that is aged in 53-gallon medium charred oak barrels.
