Initial Impressions – Rojas Unfinished Business Corona Gorda

Appearance: 92

“Picking up the cigar the first I notice is the soft box press and what appears to be a closed foot. The wrapper is a dark brown color with tight seams. The veins are flat and hidden away. The cigar is capped with a traditional triple cap. ” – (TheRealBanzi)

Aroma: 93

“The aromas coming off of this cigar are amazing! Has notes of cinnamon raisin and vanilla. Very intriguing. They are strong aromas that are pleasing to the nose. Very excited to see what this has in store. ” – (maninblack77)

First Third
– Blind Cigar Review

First Third

Flavor: 90
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“After lighting, the initial notes are dry cedar and citrus. After a few minutes I do a few retrohales and it makes my eyes water. Asian chili oil covers the sinuses leaving a tingle long after the smoke is gone. As the third comes to a close the flavors back off a touch but are still very full. The smoke is oily coating the tongue. The finish is medium to long. ” – (TheRealBanzi)

“Things get off to a really mellow start. Corn flakes cereal, cacao, cedar, and citrus zest start things off giving the palate a decent dose of complexity right off the start. The strength is mild to medium with the body starting off in the medium range. Retrohale has hints of soy sauce cinnamon and white pepper, and is very mild as well, giving the cigar an overall umami profile, hitting all areas of the palate at once. Burn and draw have both performed well from the start.” – ()

Second Third
– Blind Cigar Review

Second Third

Flavor: 88
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“This third with some creamy notes to match the citrus. This makes me think of a lemon cream filling. As I smoke on, the cedar note pops back up and overpowers the cream and citrus notes. Pushing some through my sinuses and a new note makes an appearance, sea salt. This helps balance the cedar notes which is a plus for me. The smoke has stayed oily while the body has taken a step down to medium in length. ” – (TheRealBanzi)

“The second third continues with more of the same. The strong dirt and earth flavors have not faded at all. The only change is a slight hint of smoky citrus, reminding me of grilled lemons.” – ()

Final Third
– Blind Cigar Review

Final Third

Flavor: 90
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“Not any real transitions from the second third to the final third but I don't see that was a bad thing. Lots of roasted coffee notes as well as leather and nutmeg. The strength remains medium. I was thoroughly impressed by this cigar from beginning to end. It worked very well in this Corona vitola. ” – (maninblack77)

“Final third sees the bitterness fade slightly, with leather and dry earth entering the picture. The soy note returns to the retrohale, but other than that, the cigar remains unchanged from the prior third. Burn and draw performed well throughout” – ()

Overall Impressions – Rojas Unfinished Business Corona Gorda

Draw: 96

“The draw was wonderful on this cigar, easy with a good amount of smoke production from start to finish.” – ()

Burn: 98

“Excellent burn, nice and straight with no maintenance needed.” – ()

Construction: 91

“Construction seemed pretty solid, my only complaints were that the ash was very loose and the burn time was quick for the size.” – ()

Overall Strength: Medium
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium
Experience Overall: 89

“The beginning notes of vanilla, raisin, roasted coffee, and leather and how it transitioned from the first to the second third really kept my interest. Packed full of flavors. The burn and draw were perfections. This is a cigar I would definitely try again and recommend to any cigar Smoker. Very well done overall. ” – (maninblack77)

“While the cigar performed well, the flavor profile was a little off to my liking. The initial third was to my liking, but the middle and final thirds were too strong in the mineral and bitter notes to my liking. Overall, not a bad cigar, and I am sure there are many out there that would like it.” – ()

“I can't tell if this cigar is a little young or just overly aggressive in profile. As I slowed down the flavors evened out and were very enjoyable in the last third. I would give this cigar another shot when I find out what it is to see if time did it well. Overall it was a fine cigar that would be enjoyed by a fan of full-bodied cigars. ” – (TheRealBanzi)

“If you are a fan of earthy flavor in a cigar this is a great choice. It was not very complex to me, consisting of just solid dirt, earth, and leather profile. The hint of grilled lemon flavor in the second half did add a very slight twist. While not exactly my preferred flavor I would smoke this again.” – ()
