Tony Bellatto will soon release The third core line for La Barba Cigars, a company he launched in partnership with Caldwell Cigars back in 2012. The new line will be called Primitivo, and incidentally will also be the first maduro cigar from La Barba. The Primitivo is meant to be a full-bodied blend.
“I was trained professionally in wine and spirits, I wanted to bring that to the table here more than I had with anything before.” said Bellatto. “As a WSET level 3 sommelier, the goal with this new offering was to incorporate that palate and experience, even down to the name itself: Primitivo. The name is rooted in the ancient history of wine itself, and shares flavor notes with the profile for the cigar as well.”
This new Primitivo will continue the collaboration with Henderson Ventura and their operation in the Dominican Republic. It has a San Andres Maduro wrapper, binder from Indonesia, with Dominican, Nicaraguan and Pennsylvanian filler. Four sizes will be offered.
