The fourth cigar in the San Cristobal portfolio will be in stores late this year. Ashton Distributors Inc. debuted San Cristobal Revelation last week at the IPCPR trade show in Las Vegas. The cigars should ship in about two months.
The San Cristobal brand was created in 2007, and Revelation marks the fourth line in the portfolio. As with all San Cristobals, Revelation is made for Ashton by the Garcia family at My Father Cigars in Estelí, Nicaragua.
This new San Cristobal is made with an Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapper. It’s actually the same wrapper leaf used in Ashton‘s Virgin Sun Grown blend, which is rolled in the Dominican Republic by Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. But while the Virgin Sun Grown is covered with a top-priming leaf, the wrapper used for Revelation is viso, or mid-plant priming. As such, the wrapper is lighter—what the company describes as more “chocolate brown” in color.
Both binder and filler leaf for the blend consist of Nicaraguan tobaccos.
The line will come in five sizes, three of which are box-pressed: Mystic (5 5/8 inches long by 48 ring gauge), Prophet (5 by 54) and Legend (6 1/4 by 52). Two of the sizes—the 5 3/4-inch Odyssey and 6 1/2-inch Leviathan—will be round and thick, with ring gauges of 60 and 64, respectively.
The suggested retail price across all five sizes ranges from $6.95 to $9.50. Each size comes in boxes of 24 and should ship in late September.
