Camacho Factory Unleashed 3 - Blind Cigar Review

Camacho Factory Unleashed 3 – Blind Cigar Review

Cigar Info

In March of this year, Cigars announced the third iteration of their Series, 3. This new blend is described as being even stronger than the first two versions thanks to a darker wrapper. The blend uses a Mexican San Andres dark wrapper, Honduran binder, and Dominican and Honduran fillers. Like the other two cigars in the series, it has a shaggy foot and is a 6” x 50 vitola.

This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience.

3 comes in 100-count rustic wooden crates of which 1,000 were produced. An additional 2,500 paper wrapped bundles of 10 cigars were sold through eCommerce platforms. Each cigar has an MSRP of $9.00. All 3 cigars in the series were rolled at Diadema Cigars de S.A.

Initial Impressions – Camacho Factory Unleashed 3

Appearance: 93

“This cigar wears a dark brown toothy wrapper that does not cover the entire cigar. This creates a shaggy foot. It is rolled tight with visible seams and finished with a double cap.” – (TheRealBanzi)

Aroma: 92

“Some really nice cocoa notes coming from the wrapper. Not so much from the foot, possibly due to the unfinished part.” – (maninblack77)

First Third
3 – Blind Cigar Review

First Third

Flavor: 91
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“The cigar opens with some light sweetness while burning through the shaggy foot and quickly makes a 180 when it hits the wrapper. Once the flavor, from the wrapper, joins in there is a much earthier flavor profile on the palate. The retrohale has green notes that are drying out my palate. This seems to carry me to the end of the third. The mouthfeel is medium while the finish is on the shorter side.” – (TheRealBanzi)

“The brush foot has a dry roasted peanut flavor. As the burn line hits the wrapper a very sweet cocoa notes are noted with some flowery notes almost stone fruit notes. Retrohale a very nice warm earthy stone fruit with a hint of black pepper is noted.” – (Chad Tchad)

Second Third
3 – Blind Cigar Review

Second Third

Flavor: 88
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“The second third is where things went a bit south as far as flavors go. For some reason, the flavors became much more muted and linear. There were still hints of leather and cocoa but not as pronounced. A fairly disappointing second third.” – (maninblack77)

“A strong hickory smokiness has mixed with the leather to make for a deep smoky second third. There is just the slightest hint of some black pepper in the retrohale now.” – ()

Final Third
3 – Blind Cigar Review

Final Third

Flavor: 92
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium

“Things really blossomed again in the final third. The flavors finally came back from their slumber. They continued to be dark rich cocoa, leather, and some nice espresso flavors. The strength also picked up a bit towards the end.” – (maninblack77)

“The first few puffs, of this third, has become creamer. Luckily the cedar note, from the last third, was fleeting. The cinnamon note has intensified in this final third. The burn from it lingers for a long time. The retrohale is creamy with a floral component to it. The mouthfeel is back to medium with a long tingling finish.” – (TheRealBanzi)

Overall Impressions – Camacho Factory Unleashed 3

Draw: 95

“Draw bordered on too open with a simple v-cut but had a wonderful smoke production.” – ()

Burn: 92

“Slight wavy burn with no touch-ups needed.” – (Chad Tchad)

Construction: 94

“The bunch and roll on this cigar was great. This allowed the cigar to build a firm gray ash. It was tight and held on for over an inch at a time.” – (TheRealBanzi)

Overall Strength: Medium-Strong
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium
Experience Overall: 91

“If not for the muted second third, this would have rated much higher for me. The rich cocoa and leather notes were present for most of the cigar as well as some espresso and coffee. But that second third brought the score down quite a bit. I’d recommend a fiver at the least but not a box.” – (maninblack77)

“A very dry textured smoke that does require a good liquid refreshment to keep palate moist. The flavors are consistent from start to finish but no transition noted except from the brush foot to wrapper of the cigar. Sweet cocoa with flora and stone fruit notes. Retrtohale carries a sweeter stone fruit with light black pepper until the end where the black pepper steps up.” – (Chad Tchad)

“This cigar felt a little disjointed for me. The flavors try but have a hard time coming together. The final third was the best this cigar had to offer. I hope that some time, of rest, will benefit this cigar. Only time will tell.” – (TheRealBanzi)

“If you are looking for a deep, heavy-flavored blend without being too strong this is perfect.
The mix of leather and hickory smoke held a solid taste throughout the entire cigar. An opening of a bit of cedar sweetness, and some final pepper and mineral flavor add a bit of complexity to keep it interesting. I’ll absolutely revisit this in the future.” – ()
