"Overall this is a very enjoyable morning cigar. Just enough complexity and spice to wake you up for your day, but a nice cool floral and woodsy flavor that would pair well with a morning coffee. Though the visual look of the cigar leaves much to be desired, the flavor is very solid and worth revisiting. You also could not ask for much more from the construction or burn. " -Lauren S. "This was a very mild blend. I ended up retro-haling with almost every puff to get the flavors I did manage to discover. It began sweet and floral then slowly transitioned into a more smoky mesquite flavor. The draw was a bit tight and the smoke production was very lacking. There was nothing unpalatable about the blend but nothing that stood out either." -Lauren S. (Lauren S.)
"I liked this cigar and wanted to like it a whole lot more except for the burn issues and the falling off of flavors in the last third. I liked the look of it and the notes of leather, coffee, and salt are definitely flavor notes that I thoroughly enjoy. I’d definitely revisit this cigar again and might enjoy it with a mild Bloody Mary as I think it would enhance the flavors." -Diana (ArmyRN)

·"This was a decent smoke for me. The cigar had a lot of flavor notes that I like such as leather, coffee and cocoa. The added hickory and campfire were nice also. I sort of wish the initial mix of spice and mixed peppers would’ve stayed on longer, albeit in the background. The cigar became more monotone for me as it progressed but it still remained a tasty smoke and I would definitely revisit it again with a nice espresso or Cuban coffee." -Diana (ArmyRN)

·"Holy hell, three hours to smoke a Toro? Sure was! And it was a great one at that. It had great flavors, good transitions, and kept my interest going, somehow, for that long. The entirety of this cigar is better than its components. Each third, when broken down, doesn't score as well to me as the entire experience. This isn't a cigar I could smoke on a daily basis because, frankly, I don't have three hours every day to enjoy a cigar. However when I find such occasion you bet I will fire this one up again. ·"I'm very conflicted. The burn required constant attention and more relights than I cared to count. The flavors were very good though and I found the profile shifted though out in engaging ways. I would smoke this again to see if the construction issues were a fluke but I would be wary of purchase if the price was high. " -Alan (Eulogy)
JR CIgar continues to celebrate their 50th Anniversary with a growing list of collaborators making exclusive cigars. The latest to join the celebration is Nick Melillo and Foundation Cigars for El Güegüense JR 50th. El Güegüense is Spanish for “The Wise Man,” and is also the name of a Nicaraguan dramatic theater piece from the 16th Century. It is one of the oldest indigenous works in the Western Hemisphere. This was Foundation Cigar Company's first release back in 2016. Melillo chose the name in honor of his love of Nicaragua and its people. In 2020, Foundation released a 5th Anniversary edition of the El Güegüense with a slightly tweaked blend and The Foundation El Güegüense JR 50th is based on that special blend.
