Cigar News: Crowned Heads Announces Mil Días Escogidos EL 2021

Crowned Heads has announced a second limited edition version of the Mil Días line: Mil Días Escogidos EL 2021. This follows last year’s Mareva EL XX (2020), a corona size. Mil Días Escogidos EL 2021 is a traditional double corona that measure 7 1/8″ x 49. Both special edition sizes have used the same original blend. Only 3,000 boxes of 10 Escogidos will be sold.

We actually put the Escogidos into production not too long after the Mareva began shipping. While the vitola is a radical left turn from the Mareva XX, one of the cigars that always captivated me when I was coming up was the Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona (CUBA), and this release is an homage to that iconic cigar. This vitola truly delivers a 2-hour-plus ride of richness and layered complexity that the Mil Días blend has become renowned for.

The Mil Días line has four other regular production sizes. The blend uses an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, Nicaraguan binder, and Nicaragua, Peru, and Costa Rica fillers. The company describes the blend as medium-plus in body. Mil Días Escogidos Edici6n Limitada 2021 will sell for $12.50 per cigar. They are rolled at Tabacalera Pichardo in Esteli, Nicaragua, under the supervision of Don Eradio Pichardo. Mil Días Escogidos Edici6n Limitada 2021 will ship late in April.
