Cigar News: Gurkha to Re-Master some Predicate Blends at 2018 IPCPR

Gurkha Cigars are re-releasing several of their predicate blends that will be introduced at the 2018 IPCPR trade show in Las Vegas. The facings to be unveiled will be Chateau de Prive, Marquesa and Ghost Gold. Because of high demand, Gurkha will also continue production of their Cellar Reserve 10th Anniversary.

Chateau de Prive

The Chateau de Prive will be a unique addition to Gurkha’s profile. It is a traditional mild and creamy cigar. This cigar will be a special release for the IPCPR and available globally in three sizes. The initial production run will be extremely limited with only 300 boxes per size.

The Chateau de Prive is made with an Ecuadorian Desflorado wrapper, Dominican Olor binder, and Dominican filler. They will ship in the Fall of 2018, available in 20 count boxes in the following vitolas:

• Bishop (5×50) – $10/cigar
• Rook (6×46) – $10/cigar
• King of Warriors (6.5×52) – $11/cigar

MARQUESA

Marquesa is a throwback cigar with the flavor and packaging of pre-embargo Cuba. The cigars will be available in three vitolas, each in 20 count boxes (10 round and 10 box press cigars in each). The Marquesa has a Sumatra wrapper, Nicaraguan binder, and filler from Ometepe and Esteli. The Marquesa is expected to ship in August of 2018.

GHOST GOLD

The popularity of Gurkha’s Ghost led to the expansion of offerings with the blend. Gurkha went into their book of predicate blends to find this cigar, which has a bolder profile than the original Ghost. The cigars will be sold in 21 count boxes in 3 vitolas. This smoke is made of an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, which changes the complexity of the original Ghost’s flavor profile to a nutty and earthy profile. An aged Criollo 1998 Binder and filler from the U.S., Dominican Republic, and Nicaragua. The Ghost Gold should ship to retailers in August of 2018.

CELLAR RESERVE 10TH ANNIVERSARY

The special edition Cellar Reserve cigar debuted last year at the IPCPR trade show. It was introduced in a limited edition humidor, but quickly gained popularity, so the company decided to continue production in 24-count boxes, in only one size. This medium body and complex cigar will come with a Rosado Habano wrapper, Dominican filler, and a Dominican Olor binder. The Cellar Reserve 10-year anniversary will start shipping in August of 2018.
