Initial Impressions – Dapper Cubo Sumatra Robusto

Appearance: 88

“A !!!!!! Which has an oily sheen to it on the almost green wrapper. Looks to be firmly packed as well. ” –Mickey T. (irratebass)

Aroma: 92

“Aroma is very nice manure and earth. Some smells of tea can be Identified as well as some rich tobacco from the foot.” –Ryan H. (Ryan H.)

First Third

Flavor: 90
Strength: Mild-Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“Right away I get some whiskey notes, but they quickly dissipate and leave me with sweet coffee, cedar, cream, and hints of roasted peanuts on the retro. Off to a good start. ” –Mickey T. (irratebass)

“This tastes nothing like the predraw. The flavors are very bold but it is a sort of mineral, earth, and slightly charred kind of way. There is a bit of pepper on the finish but it is not lingering. The retrohale is very mild compared to the draw. I find it nice since it is so different from the dark earthy notes. A very gentle heavy cream, pine, and extremely mild pepper make up a very short but interesting taste. ” –Alan (Eulogy)

Second Third

Second Third

Flavor: 89
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“Moving into the second third, medium-bodied notes continue from the last third. Flavors of creamy leather, black pepper, and cashew with a slightly sweet dried strawberry finish to top it off. As I near closer to the end of this portion, white pepper introduces itself into the mix, building more and more noticeable.” –John A. (Bostoneo)

“Hey, the whiskey has returned (on the retro). Picking up cherry notes here and there as well. Another interesting flavor that has been popping up lately for me anyway is spearmint or just mint. I just caught some with this cigar as well. ” –Mickey T. (irratebass)

Final Third

Final Third

Flavor: 88
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium

“Profile is completely wood now. Burn performed well, the draw was a little tight. The cigar was enjoyable with some nice transitions. Worth a 5 pack” –Ryan H. (Ryan H.)

“The strength has picked up at the end and the flavors are very bold. The problem is that it has a very charred taste. Occasionally, there is a slight sweetness from the cedar but this is a very dark earthy profile. ” –Alan (Eulogy)

Draw: 91

“An excellent draw, this cigar smoked wonderfully. ” –John A. (Bostoneo)

Burn: 94

“Razor-sharp from beginning to end. I never needed to do any touch-ups or relights and the ash held on for a very impressive time. ” –Alan (Eulogy)

Construction: 92

“All attributes of this cigar worked together in harmony as a result of the construction.” –John A. (Bostoneo)

Overall Body/Complexity: Medium
Experience Overall: 88

“I enjoyed the cigar not mind-blowing yet very enjoyable. Draw really provided a negative blow. Nice everyday cigar. Hopefully, the price point is comparable.” –Ryan H. (Ryan H.)

“I enjoyed this cigar quite a bit. First I was glad to receive a instead of a . This cigar surprised me with the whiskey flavors…this was a new one on me, and I welcomed it. The whiskey notes did not stay sadly, but I guess that was a good thing and kept me on my toes. There was also a moment of spearmint that was quite interesting. The cigar was mild to medium in strength and was exactly what I was looking for after a hard day of work and needing to relax and marinate. ” –Mickey T. (irratebass)

“I loved loved loved this cigar. It was a wonderful delight of nuts, cream, pepper, leather, and fruity notes at times. Paired with a wonderful draw, construction, and burn, this is hands down a box worthy smoke for all your medium-bodied smokers. Not once did it stray into any off-flavors as it burned all the way to the end. I recommend this stick for anyone that enjoys fine cigars!” –John A. (Bostoneo)

“The profile is just out of my wheelhouse so I wasn't a huge fan and probably wouldn't smoke another one. That doesn't mean that it isn't a good cigar and that others might not enjoy it immensely. It does a lot of things very well in terms of draw, smoke output, and texture, and there were a number of profile transitions. I just found that the heavy level of char made it difficult to find the other notes. ” –Alan (Eulogy)
