JRE Aladino Limited Edition 2023 – Blind Cigar Review

JRE Tobacco Co. went back into their family's archives for its latest cigar, the Aladino Limited Edition 2023. The cigar comes in just one size, a 6 x 52 toro. The blend features a Cameroon-seed wrapper grown on the Eiroa farms in Honduras, and binder and fillers described as “other Honduran tobacco of undisclosed origins,” all grown by the Eiroa family.

The Aladino Limited Edition has an MSRP of $16.00 per cigar and production is limited to only 600 boxes. Each box has 20 cigars. It only available to order for retailers during the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show, which took place this July.

Initial Impressions – JRE Aladino Limited Edition 2023

Appearance: 93

“This is a beautifully made cigar. The seams are drum-tight with no raised edges. The triple cap is very large and well applied matching the medium-light brown wrapper. The foot looks a touch underfilled but it is a very classic looking cigar.” –Alan (Eulogy)

“The burn and draw is awesome from the start. The profile is very dry with notes of baking spice, almonds, white pepper, and rich tobacco. Fantastic so far.” –Alan (Eulogy)

“The first flavors on this sample are clean and smooth…plenty of roasted cashew and creamy butter with just a small hit of white pepper. These flavors hit quickly and leave just as quickly, with just the buttery smoothness left behind to welcome in the next puff. “Not really much change… it's not one dimensional either. There is more of a cedar note on this third. The strength is still mild, but it's anything but boring.” –Mickey T. (irratebass)

“The middle portion of this sample has the pepper being more prominent but still acts as an enhancement to the nutty and buttery main notes I'm getting. Through the nose, the smoke has become slightly less peppery which is not particularly a good thing because I was really enjoying it in the first third. “Into the final portion i'm getting a slight flavor shift and salty leather has entered the profile. This is a very nice accompaniment to the buttery finish and I'm really enjoying it. “I'm going to start this off by starting my overall opinion…this is a damn fine cigar. The flavors started off easy and buttery with just the right amount of spice to keep a guy like me puffing away. As the smoker progressed the facts retained enough of what got me interested but also evolved into the slightly fuller flavor profile that I enjoy. While never becoming harsh, the profile generally deepened and drew me in, causing me to not want it to end. I enjoyed this very much, and only pray it is something I can afford to put into my regular rotation. For what it's worth, I chose to pair this with a nice red wine and I think it was about the perfect pairing to end my day. I would highly recommend this to my smoking friends.” –Jason H.
