"Until that last third I would have said that this was a fairly linear cigar with minimal transition. The last third saved it a little bit but I’m not sure most people would have stuck around for it. Protocol Hard Coal Detective – Blind Cigar Review

"Overall, this was a good cigar, it started off better than it finished however. The flavors went from sweet tobacco and vanilla changing to a harsher sweet tobacco with the vanilla going away. The only other flavor transition I picked up was in the final third it gained a coffee and cedar taste. Had it not been for the issues of construction and the multiple relites it would have been much more enjoyable. "Overall, this cigar was very consistent in terms of flavor. A few burn issues tended to rear their heads a few times during this session, requiring multiple touchups as it liked to spoon. "Overall, I feel this was an excellent cigar, although on the mild side, the flavor combinations which stayed the same, but transitioned in dominance from third to third, made for an interesting cigar. The silky smooth texture and cool temperature allowed me to take this all the way down to a nub. "The flavors on the cigar were interesting and complex from the get-go. While the strength never passed a solid medium the taste was a journey starting with a sweet floral beginning into the more spicy cedar middle followed by a super complex end with nuts and pepper. The ash and burn were pretty much perfect. My only real complaint was how fast it smoked timing in at just over an hour.
