Cigar Info
Davidoff of Geneva USA acuired Camacho in 2008. It was back in 2013 that the company underwent a complete redesign of the Camacho brand. The blends, bands, and boxes were all updated and made to be bolder.
This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience.
The BXP line extension was added this year to three of it’s core blends – Corojo, Ecuador, and Connecticut. Each blend came in three new vitolas and Pennsylvania broadleaf from AJ Fernandez was added to the filler. The new sizes are: Robusto (5 x 50) — $8, Toro (6 x 50) — $8.25, Gordo (6 x 60) — $9.25. Camacho BXP officially began shipping in the U.S. on Feb. 13 2017.

Initial Impressions
Appearance: 91
“This is a toro with a soft box press and a nice look. The color is a deep chestnut brown and the wrapper has a nice oil sheen with a light tooth. The veins are prominent but not obtrusive, while the triple cap is cleanly applied. ” –Matthew T. (A Huge Nerd)
Aroma: 89
“I get some feint barnyard on the wrapper of the cigar along with some cedar notes. On the foot I get a really strong molasses aroma. ” –Zane G. (Zane)
First Third
Flavor: 88
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
“The flavor started out with some spice and also some bitter coffee notes. After only a half inch, the cigar just mysteriously went out. A relight got things going again, and flavors also included some charred oak and a very subtle background flavor of anise. ” –Matthew T. (A Huge Nerd)
“In the first third the cigar is starting off with some spice and cedar notes. Lots of spice on the tongue. The retro on this thing really cleans out my sinuses. Spice and cedar are dominating the first third but the spice calms down after 8 to 10 puffs. With the reduction of spice in comes some nice earthiness. ” –Zane G. (Zane)
Second Third
Flavor: 86
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
” Similar notes of chocolate and espresso continue in this third with the espresso notes being dominant. Nothing new in the flavor department except a slight sweetness and black pepper coming through. Major touch ups were required. ” –John A. (John A.)
“Second third the earthiness is still there but getting a strong amount of leather. Still has some spice and some espresso notes. Also getting some musty notes. ” –Zane G. (Zane)
Final Third
Flavor: 88
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
“The final third the leather is the dominant flavor with some sweet cedar notes. The musty notes are gone but I still get some faint spice/bitter espresso. The cigar does not change much throughout the final third. ” –Zane G. (Zane)
“The last 3rd stayed mostly the same as the 2nd… the spice was light and the cigar was more mellow and smooth and creamy. There was a bit of spice always around. The burn was perfect throughout.” –Wes (SosaCub4Life)
Overall Impressions
Draw: 91
“Great draw. Very open with a touch of resistance. ” –Zane G. (Zane)
Burn: 88
“The fact that I had to completely relight it after a half inch was a bad omen. While it did not require another full relight, I did have to clean up crooked burns during the whole smoking experience. ” –Matthew T. (A Huge Nerd)
Construction: 90
“Construction was great throughout. The cigar held a nice ash and it burned well all the way to the end.” –Wes (SosaCub4Life)
Overall Strength: Medium-Strong
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
Experience Overall: 88
“I really would not recommend the Cigar at all. The complexity was lacking greatly and the burn was all over the place requiring multiple touchups and relights. ” –John A. (John A.)
“It was really a nice looking cigar, but looks aren’t everything. The burn issues I think contributed to some harshness and bitterness dominating the flavor profile, and that just isn’t enough to make me want to smoke this one again. ” –Matthew T. (A Huge Nerd)
“Overall I enjoyed this cigar. The blast of spice/pepper in the first third was a bit much but luckily it died down fairly quickly and developed into a consistent flavor profile. While this cigar by no means blew me away it was a solid performer. ” –Zane G. (Zane)
“Overall the cigar was very good. The start was very peppery and spicy but then it mellowed out to more creamy and smooth. I’m interested to see what this cigar is because I would like to have another.” –Wes (SosaCub4Life)
