Initial Impressions – Partagas Añejo Petit Robusto

Appearance: 93

“Appears to be a corona size cigar with a medium brown barber pole wrapper utilizing what appears to be a thin stripe going around the cigar. It has visible veins tight seams and appears to be a double cap.” – (Angel)

Aroma: 90

“Leather, earth, barnyard, hay in that order.” – (randobush)

First Third
Petit – Blind Cigar Review

First Third

Flavor: 90
Strength: Mild-Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“Starting off in the first third I am picking up a bit of green pepper/bell pepper with a small amount of spice flavor it leaves a harsh lingering aftertaste and is a bit astringent. Not too pleasant currently but hopefully it'll pick up. Ending the first third the flavor has mellowed slightly and the harshness has diminished but is still there. The astringent favor that I can't put my finger on remains but has also mellowed a bit and has gone to the background still continue to pick up green pepper flavors with mild spice undertones.” – (Angel)

“I get a nice, even mix of caramel, cedar and leather to start. There's a bright coffee just behind, with a touch of pepper tingle on the finish. Getting into the third, leather and caramel drop back a bit exposing a bit of an herbal note. Light cinnamon around ten minutes in.” – (Chris)

Second Third
Petit – Blind Cigar Review

Second Third

Flavor: 86
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full

“Two inches in and there is a savory salty buttery feel on the palate, with a sweet baking spice and cayenne cedar zing on the retro. Perfect draw and burn thus far, with a nice full mouthful of smoke, backed by a medium finish. Scratch that, it's a long finish now, lasting easily until the next draw..” – (randobush)

“Peppery, hazelnut, wood.” – (Bearded Bastard)

Final Third
Petit – Blind Cigar Review

Final Third

Flavor: 88
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“The coffee toned down but was still the only flavor.” – (Jai)

“Going into final third there is now a semi-sweet caramel, high cedar, sweet cayenne, and a salty, butter baking spice. Retro has a small zing to it now, but it's not unpleasant. Burn remains razor sharp, and draw is perfect.” – (randobush)”

Overall Impressions – Partagas Añejo Petit Robusto

Draw: 91

“The draw on this cigar delivered 100% and was very satisfying. I'll leave it there.” – (randobush)

Burn: 93

“I got a pretty wavy burn, but was mostly self-correcting. Only one touch-up needed after the ash drop.” – (Chris)

Construction: 93

“I would describe the construction of the cigar as was well-built. No cracks opened up and other than the one touchup during the second third the burn was pretty razor sharp, visually this was good looking cigar as a barber pole.” – (Angel)

Overall Strength: Medium
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
Experience Overall: 93

“A great cigar for those that like coffee. Impeccable construction with a nice even burn and mellow smoke throughout the experience. The initial sweetness prepares the palate to accept the bitterness that coffee brings.” – (Jai)

“I wish the body had kept up with where it started. Nice shifts, and a fair amount of complexity, but after getting 10-15 minutes into the smoke, they dropped their pop. That being said, I could still see myself smoking this again.” – (Chris)

“This cigar started off pretty harsh with some astringent flavors in the first third. Throughout the whole cigar, the astringency got less and less making the cigar much better by the end. I wasn't overwhelmed with the flavors they stayed fairly consistent up until the last third at which time the green pepper transitioned into a citrus flavor, with a muted leather flavor and very slight sweetness. Fortunately, the harshness diminished and the astringency disappeared making for a decent ending. Overall, a decent cigar.” – (Angel)

“Great flavors, no burn issues, great construction.” – (Bearded Bastard)

“Really enjoyed the experience that this cigar provided. Looks-wise, I wasn't very interested at first, but it quickly commanded my attention and demanded my respect. The performance was exceptional overall. The flavors were bold and pronounced, mixing well together. I enjoyed the nice long finish in between draws. I'm still enjoying the finish of flavors on my palate as I close out this review. With that, I bid thee farewell until next time.” – (randobush)
