Cigar Info
Fans of Tatuaje Cigars know that the company’s Capa Especial cigars have a Sumatra wrapper, the Reserva cigars have a Connecticut Broadleaf Wrapper, and now, Tuxtla cigars will have a Mexican San Andres wrapper. The Capa Especial, Reserva, and now Tuxtla lines are extensions of existing lines with a different spin on the wrapper. The name comes from San Andrés Tuxtla, the city and municipality where a large part of Mexico’s premium cigar industry lives, including the tobacco growing region. In this review, we will look at one of the first cigars released from the company as a Tutxla extension, the Tatuaje T110 Tuxtla.
This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience.
The original Tatuaje T110 was based on an unreleased cigar called “Thermonuclear,” that Pete Johnson made in 2006 that used 100% ligero tobaccos. In 2009, the first T110 was sold as an exclusive for R. Field Wine Co. in Hawaii. The T stood for Thermonuclear and the 110 is for the length of the cigar, 110mm. While the unreleased Thermonuclear was all ligero, the T110 was not, although very strong, using ligero and high-priming visos. The original Tatuaje T110 only saw a production of 390 boxes of 25, 200 of which were packaged normally and 190 of which were wet-packed in foil. The T110 was not released again until 2021, when we saw not only the original blend come back, but two new variations: Tatuaje T110 Capa Especial, using an Ecuadorian wrapper, and the Tatuaje T110 Reserve, using a Connecticut Broadleaf, and now, in 2022, the Tatuaje T110 Tuxtla with a Mexican San Andres Wrapper.
The Tatuaje T110 Tuxtla is, like the rest of the T110 line, a 4 3/8 x 52 petit robusto. It has an MSRP of $10.00 per cigar and had a higher production than the other two extensions, 4,000 boxes of 25.

Initial Impressions – Tatuaje T110 Tuxtla
Appearance: 94
“This short beauty (4.5”x52rg) comes wrapped in a nice and oily, delicious looking med-dark brown wrapper with a deep blood red hue. Zero detectable defects at prelight inspection. Triple up top, open foot at the bottom, revealing rich, well-rolled tobacco. ” –Randy B. (randobush)
Aroma: 94
“Sweet tobacco, with a little cocoa. On the foot much deeper sense of sweet tobacco, with a hint of vanilla. ” –Angel M. (Angel)
First Third
Flavor: 92
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
“In the first third, I’m picking up a decent amount of cocoa, leather, and cedar along with a smaller amount of pepper spice. The pepper lingers on the lips from draw to draw but it’s not too spicy or overwhelming. as for the smoke it is somewhere in the middle between dry and creamy and quite enjoyable. ” –Angel M. (Angel)
“Cedar, black pepper, and leather hit first. Brown sugar, a quick hit of citrus and raw cinnamon follow close behind, with creamy earth as a backbone. Leather drops to a moderate level about half an inch in. Some fairly light vegetal notes add to the finish coming up on an inch. Brown sugar creeping up a bit too.” –Chris M. (Chris)
Second Third
Flavor: 92
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
“Second third finds the super creamy nougat and baking spice, blending wonderfully with savory paprika, & salted butter. The retrohale is now insanely good 2” in. Black coffee still hanging around as an afterthought, and maybe a hint of Luxardo cherry. The finish is long and very nice!” –Randy B. (randobush)
“The earth shifts to a creamy medium roast coffee. The cream sweetness knocks the brown sugar to the background. Cedar is nice and rich, with citrus now attached to it. Fresh black pepper and raw cinnamon still create a balanced layer of spice. Leather joins brown sugar in the back. The vegetal notes and cream sweetness pick up approaching the final third.” –Chris M. (Chris)
Final Third
Flavor: 93
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
“A nice combination of black pepper and cinnamon notes.” –Sean F. (fullermaine)
“Creamy earth and creamy coffee are up front, the flavor shifts depending on the draw. Leather picks back up to a moderate level. Cedar drops back and loses the citrus. Black pepper and cinnamon remain pretty consistent with the first two-thirds. Vegetal notes recede to the background. A bread dough note adds in keeping the complexity going to the end.” –Chris M. (Chris)
Overall Impressions – Tatuaje T110 Tuxtla

“Even burn from beginning to end with no touch-up needed. Grey-white ash that holds on for two to three inches.” –Sean F. (fullermaine)
Construction: 94
“Construction-wise and from a visual standpoint a good-looking cigar with a nice color. It feels densely packed with a bit of weight to it. Everything held together great throughout the smoking session. ” –Angel M. (Angel)
Overall Strength: Medium
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
Experience Overall: 93
“One word, phenomenal! Notes of sweet tea, hickory, oak, black pepper, and cinnamon. Perfect construction, draw, and appearance. Grey-white ash that lasts for two to three inches. A great quick cigar that pairs well with coffee. Grab a few sticks to have on hand. I’d smoke this cigar again and again.” –Sean F. (fullermaine)
“I had a solid experience with this one. It stayed fairly bold throughout, had some interesting and logical shifts, and needed little attention while smoking. Really nice burn time for being under five inches. More savory than sweet, so I’d have to be in the right mood. I’d definitely reach for one again if that mood hit.” –Chris M. (Chris)
“This cigar to me was a delight from start to finish. The flavors were profound during the first third, transitioning more harmoniously together and less distinct individually in the second third, and even more of the same during the final third. Draw, burn, construction, flavors….all high marks!
The retrohale was thoroughly enjoyable throughout. Well done on this one!” –Randy B. (randobush)
“Overall, a great cigar. Plenty of smoke and enjoyable flavors. Although the flavor transitions were not super complex, the flavors of leather, cedar, and the later presence of sweetness made for an overall pleasurable experience. The temperature from the smoke was fairly cool and I was able to take this one all the way down to a nub and never really picked up any harshness. I will definitely smoke this cigar again.” –Angel M.
