Initial Impressions

Appearance: 95

“This is a nice box-pressed cigar with a light to medium brown wrapper. It is fairly smooth with some noticeable veins throughout the body of the cigar. Leaf edges are smoothed nicely into the body. The double cap is nicely placed. Filler is a closed foot that is nicely done. ” – (ArmyRN)

Aroma: 93

“The body and foot, of this cigar, have an abundance of cocoa powder notes. They are so strong in fact that they leave little room for anything else. The cold draw is chocolate-covered raisins. The profile is simple and very straightforward. ” – (TheRealBanzi)

First Third
Aganorsa Gran – Blind Cigar Review

First Third

Flavor: 92
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“The cigar starts out with an immediate note of French roast coffee, a mixture of black and white pepper, and some citrus mixed in. The pepper is predominant for the first 3/4 of an inch. As the pepper starts to calm, it is easier to notice the citrus which tastes like a mixture of lemon and lime. Coffee notes are in the background and intermittent cedar pokes through. As I progress the coffee pushes through a bit more and lingers on the finish.” – (ArmyRN)

“The first third brought me notes of cream, leather, cedar, and a hint of earth.” – (Stogie Sister)

Second Third

Second Third

Flavor: 91
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full

“The second third opens with the citrus note taking the lead. The smoke has me thinking about eating an orange wedge and getting a little of the pith. As the third continues the coffee note reappears but moves into more of a complementary role. The retrohale has stayed about the same. The smoke has smoothed out a bit, thankfully. The mouthfeel has bumped up a bit to medium while the finish is the same as the first third. ” – (TheRealBanzi)

“Even though the intensity of flavors has waned slightly entering the second third, this smoke is just as enjoyable as it started out and is becoming smoother as well as creamier with every puff. The simplicity of vanilla, red pepper, and fresh wheat bread still exists upfront and is occasionally joined by hints of dried fruit. It's the retro that really adds a layer of complexity with the addition of coffee, sweet cream, and just a touch of milk chocolate, all of which combine to impart a luxuriously creamy mouthfeel that dwells on the palate. The burn gets a little crooked but is easily corrected with a quick touch of the torch. A solid nicotine buzz washes over me as the second third draws to a close. ” – (Noah)

Final Third

Final Third

Flavor: 93
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“The final third saw the strength pick up a notch with the flavors staying consistent with leather, baking spices and nutmeg. There was also a nice oakiness that made an appearance at times but not enough to add much to the mix of flavors. I was happy to see things pick up in this final third to create a more enjoyable experience. ” – (maninblack77)

“The profile, in the final third, has shifted to the darker side with anise dominating the palate. In the background there is a delicate all spice that lingers making the finish longer. The wrapper has developed a small split on the side. Can't tell if it is a byproduct of the pressing out the weather. It is cool and windy as I smoke. The good thing is it has not affected the smoking experience. The retro has stayed consistent throughout the entire smoking session. The mouthfeel has jumped up another notch. The cigar goes out on a high note. ” – (TheRealBanzi)

Overall Impressions

Draw: 93

“This cigar's draw was excellent from the time I cut the cap to the last puff I took. Each puff was easy, but not to open, creating ample amounts of smoke. ” – (TheRealBanzi)

Burn: 92

“A single touch-up was needed to correct a slightly crooked burn but otherwise this stick performed flawlessly which always makes for a superb smoking experience. ” – (Noah)

Construction: 94

“This was a well-put-together cigar. With the double cap, closed foot, and boxed pressed body, it was solid and had no construction issues at all. There were no cracks or lifting of leaves and the cap was well preserved during the entire smoke. The body of the cigar was very comfortable in hand. ” – (ArmyRN)

Overall Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
Experience Overall: 92

“I can say with complete transparency that this cigar was a solid performer overall and that the flavors were very enjoyable. I love leather, baking spices, and nutmeg flavors in a cigar but with a bit more punch. I was hoping for more cocoa or chocolate flavors or perhaps some coffee notes. I'd definitely try this cigar again and could perhaps enjoy this with a morning coffee. A great overall smoking experience. ” – (maninblack77)

“While there wasn't a ton of transitions within the profile, there were enough notes present to keep me engaged to the very end. ” – (Stogie Sister)

“This was a very nice cigar. The look is great, and I always like how a closed foot presents. The flavor notes were good, except for the amount of citrus that caused some acidity in the smoke. I could've used less of that and been happy. The core flavors of coffee, pepper, cedar, and some leather and nuts, were very nicely done. I'd definitely revisit this cigar and keep some around for a more complex yet medium smoking experience. ” – (ArmyRN)

“From the first puff to the very last, this smoke just hit the spot! Its delectable lineup of flavors was simple yet complex enough to hold my palate's attention from start to finish and the flavors were always in perfect balance with one another. The smoke itself was ultra smooth with a creamy mouthfeel, which aside from flavor is something that always makes a big impression on me. A perfect draw, trouble-free burn, and impeccable construction all round out a completely solid smoking experience, one that checked off each and every box for me without question. This smoke was an absolute banger and I can't wait to smoke it again! ” – (Noah)

“I found the first and second thirds to be a little disjointed. It felt like the cigar was trying to find its way. By the last third this cigar was firing on all cylinders. The profile, of this cigar, is very appealing and I think with some rest it could become something special. I will search these out and let them rest a little before revisiting them again. ” – (TheRealBanzi)
