Earlier this year, in July, Davidoff announced an addition to the AVO Syncro series, AVO Syncro Caribe. The last cigar added to the Syncro line was the AVO Syncro South America Ritmo in 2017. Before that came the Syncro Nicaragua Fogata in 2016, and the original AVO Syncro Nicaragua in 2015.

AVO Syncro Caribe comes in 20-count boxes in three sizes: Robusto 5 x 50 $10.90, Toro 6 x 52 $11.90, and Special Toro 6 x 60 $12.90. The name Caribe comes from the inspiration of the flavors, the Caribbean. AVE Syncro Caribe was blended with a process Davidoff calls ‘Natural Distribution.' This means that the ratios of tobacco primings are kept the same in all the sizes, and those ratios are equal to how they are distributed on the plat they were harvested from. For example, if the tobacco plant had 40% seco, 40% viso, and 20% ligero, that is how the blend would be. The blend starts with a Dominican wrapper, then an Ecuadorian binder, and finishes with fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua.

“I get powdered cocoa on the body, like when I was a kid and my mom made me hot chocolate, and it came in this can. I always loved the smell of that when she would open it. The foot gives me manure with cinnamon and coffee. ” –Mickey T. (irratebass)

“I get salt and rye flavors on the cold draw. As the ash falls off I am tasting raisins, sweet coffee, and some earth tones. This is a pretty strong cigar right out of the gate not in spice terms, but in earthiness.” –Mickey T. (irratebass)

“The flavor starts out very bold with dry notes of leather and bitter walnuts that are slightly dry on the palate. Sour bread notes and white pepper begin to develop with a dry cedar finish. The retrohale is a very crisp rich note of leather and red pepper. This is probably the truest note of leather I have found in a cigar in a long time. ” –Alan (Eulogy)

“After another ash tap, I got a mouthful of cream (I hear ya laughing with your perverted thoughts). The earthiness is still there, but it is subtle and not so much in my face (like the cream lol's)…..and just like that the roasted nuts have arrived. On the retro I got some banana flavors. “With the last third upon me, the full-bodied experience continues to build in strength. Flavors of molasses, black pepper, and strong leather are ever-present. This syrupy mouthful of black pepper, leather, and sweet molasses continues well towards the end where the profile becomes a muddled mixture of very strong and overwhelming char. “This was not a bad cigar. It started out with a lot of Earth & dirt notes that turned me off immediately, but I continued on and was glad I did because the earthiness subsided and I got cream, some banana, and roasted nuts. “Probably one the best cigars that I've had this year. I was totally engaged with the flavor profile changes and the richness of the notes the entire time. The smoke output was amazing with a creamy lingering smoke on the palate.
