Last year Rafael Nodal announced a sequel to his line Aging Room Bin No. 1. Aging RoomBin No. 2 uses the same concept with a new blend. The project focuses on specific lots, or bins, of extra aged tobacco.
This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience.
Aging RoomBin No. 2 is a Nicaraguan puro focusing on tobacco from Ometepe from the Plasencia family. The blend uses a Nicaraguan wrapper, Ometepe binder, and fillers from Estelí and Jalapa. It comes in three vitolas, all in boxes of 20: C Major (5 3/4 x 54), B Minor (5 x 52), and Grande (6 x 60). They are rolled at the Plasencia Cigars S.A. factory.
“Coffee and oak notes still present. With a few more puffs, notes of tea and cocoa are present. Slight hint of sugar coming through.” –Sean F. (fullermaine)
“A dark coffee note enters the party and it dances nicely with the oak while tossing the leather flavor out the window. BUT that leather creeps its way back in soon after via the retrohale. Speaking of the retrohale, around the halfway mark a very nice mineral component joins the leather through the nose.” –Matt Cade (CADE)
“The last third remains very similar to the middle, with strong flavors of oak and dark coffee on the draw and that mineral and leather note on the retrohale. The cigar started to burn a little hot with an inch and a half to go so that’s when I said goodbye.” –Matt Cade (CADE)
“Notes of leather and cedar and a slight sweetness that I’m enjoying. Retrohale is quite peppery. Ash is firm still. This would be a cigar you could win a longest ash contest.” –Jeremey W. (Jeremey)
“I hit nirvana with this cigar. Great construction, draw, and flavors makes this cigar a must for your humidor. Grab a few or a box, you won’t be disappointed.” –Sean F. (fullermaine)
“A good cigar with slight complexity both in the draw and the nose, I’d go so far as to say that retrohaling is a must with this stick to get your money’s worth. It’s also a rather fast burning cigar so if you’re looking for something in the humidor to occupy more than an hour of your time look elsewhere.” –Matt Cade (CADE)
“This is definitely a cigar I would buy to enjoy with a nice single malt scotch or a quality bourbon.” –Jeremey W. (Jeremey)
“Loved it, perfect way to wind down after a day of screaming kids and dealing with broken cars. I don’t drink much so I compare flavors to what would pair well with my drink of choice which is coffee, and let me tell you, this was a perfect match. Only issue I had was, I wanted another. Great smoke, great experience.” –Joseph S. (Bearded Bastard)
