Blind Cigar Review: Black Label Trading Company | Deliverance Porcelain Corona Gorda Cigar Info

The Porcelain was originally a limited edition line extension of the Deliverance line released December of 2018. In June of this year, it was announced that it would be joining the portfolio as a regular production. James Brown, creator of Black Label Trading Company, and partner at Oveja Negra, blended Deliverance Porcelain with a Connecticut wrapper, Nicaraguan habano binder, and fillers from Nicaragua and USA Pennsylvania.

This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience.

Porcelain only comes in one vitola, a 5 1/2 x 48 corona gorda (robusto). Before becoming a regular production cigar, only 650 boxes of 16 were made. The cigar sells for $10.

Blind Cigar Review: Black Label Trading Company | Deliverance Porcelain Corona Gorda Initial Impressions

Appearance: 96

“Beautiful butterscotch colored wrapper with seamless construction. Very few veins.” –Kevin J. (maninblack77)

Aroma: 93

“There’s a bit of a mild hay and a touch of sweetness from the foot but there’s not much else.” –Alan (Eulogy)

First Third

Flavor: 92
Strength: Mild-Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“Dang near perfect draw from the start. The cigar was very sweet with the dry draw but once lit, there is a surprising amount of spice I would categorize as a winter spice. Cinnamon and nutmeg mixed with leather, nut and a pinch of white pepper and salt thrown in the mix. WOW! About an inch into the stick, however, the cigar settled down substantially. Still delicious, but without the WOW factor.” –James H. (Keikan Jim)

“Starts out very mild but the smoke is nice and creamy. There’s a hint of dry leather, salted peanuts, and mild tobacco. Thankfully there’s a nice hit of pepper on the retrohale because there’s a total lack of spice on the draw.” –Alan (Eulogy)

Second Third

Body/Complexity: Medium

“This cigar has so many shifts in a short span it’s hard to describe. It flows from mild to medium in strength with burst of

winter spices that come and go at will. Amazing transitions that keep you guessing from puff to puff.” –James H. (Keikan Jim)

“I’m getting a ton of heavy cream and there’s a luxurious mouth feel. The downside is there’s not too much else going on. I’m still getting salty peanuts and a bit of hay on the draw with a medium amount of pepper on the retohale.” –Alan (Eulogy)

Final Third

Flavor: 94
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“The finale begins with another transition away from the big vegetal flavors that characterized the mid third. There’s still some

creaminess and nut flavors apparent, but more of a roasted earthiness sets in at the end.” –John I. (John I.)

“Strength kicks up a notch but nothing harsh. The flavors continue to be the citrus and slight salted nut along with a caramel that really ties it all together. Burned it to the nub. Very enjoyable finish.” –Kevin J. (maninblack77)

“I’m not usually drawn to milder cigars but this stick grabbed my attention and held it throughout the smoking experience. Bountiful smoke output with constantly shifting flavors drew me in like a dream. I will search for this in the future.” –James H. (Keikan Jim)

“I think if I would have smoked this with my morning coffee or a peaty glass of Scotch I would have been absolutely blown away. It’s just screaming to complement a beverage. Unpaired it’s still a fantastic cigar. The honey coated mouthfeel the entire time was very enjoyable. If you are a fan of nutty mild cigars this would be a home run for you. I will probably pick up a few of these to throw in the morning rotation with the Brulee or Por Larranaga and amazing cup of coffee.” –Alan (Eulogy)

“Really enjoyable lighter bodied cigar. I typically prefer full bodied smokes, but this cigar really displayed some typical mild flavors, cream, nuts, herbs and floral notes, but still had enough potency to make it a good experience for fuller cigar fans. This would be accessible for a newcomer to the leaf and still enjoyable for a grizzled vet.” –John I. (John I.)

“A truly enjoyable Connecticut shade cigar that can be smoked anytime of day. I really have a new appreciation for Connecticut shade cigars after smoking this. I’d rate it a “great”. Would definitely smoke many more of these.” –Kevin J. (maninblack77)
