Blind Cigar Review: Hiram & Solomon | Shriner Toro Initial Impressions

Appearance: 94

“This cigar has a beautiful camel color of tan and almost seamless wrapper with very small veins. The cap is shallow on the shoulder but done nicely with a foot of a shows off a pretty swirls of tobacco with no big stems. ” – (The Yoga Ash)

Aroma: 93

“The body of the cigar has an amazing nutty character reminisce of raw almond. The foot of this cigar brings a roasted coffee bean. All of these flavors come together in the cold draw. The cold draw is Fig Newton cookie. Can’t wait to put fire to this cigar.” – (TheRealBanzi)

First Third

Flavor: 89
Strength: Mild-Medium
Body/Complexity: Light-Medium

“The first few puffs bring out the cashews that I got in the pre-light aroma. This cigar starts off sweet and creamy, with a hint of cinnamon. Everything I am getting from this cigar at this point is in the sweet and salty range, almost like a salted caramel milkshake. An interesting white pepper note is hitting my nose on the retrohale, but it blends well with the other flavors I am getting and is very smooth.” – ()

“The cigar opens with a sweet and tangy note…I want to say Tang drink made with an extra scoop and a mystique wood undertone. The effortless retrohale balances out the early sweetness with the smell of eucalyptus oil and Sun Maid Golden raisins. This has been a great opening to the cigar.” – (TheRealBanzi)

Second Third

Flavor: 90
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“Second third is smooth and creamy almost refreshing feeling. Getting a nice aroma of bakers chocolate off the head. As it goes on I had some roasted coffee and some spice here and there on the back of the throat. Ash was compacted in nice stacks. Smoking very nice.” – ()

“Very light hints of milk chocolate mixed with salt and falling into a dry paper. The smoke is still very wispy. Towards the end of the 2nd 3rd I am still getting a salty finish with a very slight pepper. ” – (The Yoga Ash)

Final Third

Flavor: 91
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“Getting into the final third, the strength has kicked up to medium strong and the body is a solid medium full. The cashew notes are still the most prominent, now joined by cedar, hay and leather. The spices I am getting remind me of mulling spice. The sweet creaminess from the beginning is still there, but there is just enough to notice and bring this blend completely together. ” – ()

“The dark flavors, from the second third, are joined by a slight mint on the tip of the tongue. The eucalyptus makes a return in the sinuses joining the cinnamon from the last third. All of this has helped to extend the finish. Body and and strength have not moved.” – (TheRealBanzi)

Overall Impressions

Draw: 97

“Draw was excellent, very easy and effortless. Not fighting at all on this one.” – ()

Burn: 95

“The burn stayed consistent with no touch ups needed.” – (The Yoga Ash)

Construction: 93

“This cigar was very well made. It was packed and rolled well. Ash was a gray in color with some dark spots as the burn came over a vein. The ash held on for about an inch and a half at a time. ” – (TheRealBanzi)

Overall Strength: Medium
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium
Experience Overall: 93

“I enjoyed this cigar very much. Starting with the feel and aroma of the cigar pre light. I was looking forward to my time with this cigar. This did not disappoint me, very well though out. It was consistent and flavorful, not overly complex but very gratifying.” – ()

“All in all this was a very pleasant cigar. From the pre-light all the way to the last puff, it kept me intrigued and wanting more. Definitely a box buy on this one.” – ()

“Though this cigar lacked body, in my opinion, I can not overstate how good this cigar was. I could see some people calling it one dimensional but in all honesty this cigar was a flavor bomb. Forgoing strength and body for the benefit of making a more flavorful blend. This cigar is perfect for anyone looking to expand their palate away from the light body, airy, cigars of the world. Pick one up and decided for yourself.” – (TheRealBanzi)

“This cigar comes off with very light flavor notes that I almost had to search for, I would suggest to smoke this cigar with a green or white tea as it could be overtaken easily. Wish it wouldn’t have cracked & be careful as the ash like to fall off. ” – (The Yoga Ash)
