Blind Cigar Review: Jenneff Cigars | Family Blend Perfecto Initial Impressions

Appearance: 89

“A nice looking robusto sized torpedo, that’s a bit veiny, with lots of oily sheen on the wrapper. ” – (mdwest)

Aroma: 93

“Floral on the wrapper with a cedar and slight hay on the foot.” – (Mattehh)

First Third

Flavor: 88
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“Started out with cedar and floral notes. Then a sweet wood note came in nearing the last of the first third. The smoke was creamy but dry. Was enjoyable and kept me interested for the next phase.” – (Mattehh)

“Starts out with an array of bitter sweet tastes like sour gum horehound and molasses does also have some bread or graham cracker.” – ()

Second Third

Flavor: 88
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full

“The leather and char flavors stick around for round two as well as some smokey wood type flavors. Not much going on here as this quick third ends. ” – (Bostoneo)

“Second third was still the same but missing the floral. Cedar was the predominant flavor with a sweetness in the background. The Smoke was still full and had a creaminess.” – (Mattehh)

Final Third

Flavor: 89
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full

“Getting walnuts on the finish after I retro now, before was just roasted peanuts. I dig the transition. ” – (irratebass)

“By now the flavor is mainly smoky wood. Not many flavors were present for this quickly smoking cigar, but all were on the darker side. ” – (Bostoneo)

Overall Impressions

Draw: 94

“Very little room for improvement here. The cigar produced just the right amount of resistance to make it easy to draw on while still providing plenty of bold flavors. ” – (mdwest)

Burn: 92

“The burn was close to perfect only faltered a little to one side but corrected itself. ” – (Mattehh)

Construction: 93

“Nothing negative about construction. Was an interesting vitola also.” – ()

Overall Strength: Medium-Strong
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
Experience Overall: 92

“This cigar was difficult to get a fair assessment on since each third went by very quickly. The flavors were OK but very linear and the lack of complexity was probably because of how short the stick was. Again… it was OK but nothing I would personally seek out. ” – (Bostoneo)

“The construction and vitola made for an interesting cigar, draw could have been better but it didn’t ruin the cigar. After the first third did have a unpleasant finish. Had a few transitions at key points of the cigar really helped keep it interesting. Even with the negative things I had described I would still buy a box. Everything about a cigar doesn’t have to be perfect to still have a marketable product.” – ()

“This was a very good cigar that I would recommend to people to try. It was mild-medium in strength with plenty of flavors such as nuts, bread, cream, wood, and coffee to keep your attention. Even though this torpedo shaped cigar performed well for me I would like to smoke it again in another size. ” – (irratebass)

“Overall the cigar kept me interested. Had nice flavor with great draw. The last third was not my favorite because of the jump in intensity, but the rest of the cigar made up for it. ” – (Mattehh)

“While things started out a little slow in the beginning with some harshness in the smoke, the cigar progressively improved with every inch and ended up being very enjoyable by the end. I would certainly smoke this one again, and would be happy to recommend it to friends. ” – (mdwest)
