The cigars, dubbed”Sampetrina”, “Teniente Angela” and “La Coronela”, are rolled at Tabacalera LA iSLA in the Dominican Republic using 3 unique blends of Mexican and Dominican tobaccos.
We’re thrilled to introduce the Soldadera Edition as our latest offering. The cigars in this line are a celebration of the strength, courage, and determination of the women who played a vital role in shaping Mexico’s history.
Casa 1910 founder, Manolo Santiago
The Soldadera Edition were launched at the TPE Trade Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The cigars are now available for purchase at select retailers.
All that follows is a description of the line and induvial cigars:
The Mexican Revolution would have been impossible without the effort and sacrifice of the Soldaderas. These brave female warriors persevered and refused to be defeated despite their constant condemnation as a result of the ideologies of the time. This line is dedicated to those brave female soldiers, who fought for justice and freedom. Through a delicate selection of the finest tobaccos from Mexico and the Dominican Republic, we have created cigars that embody the fighting spirit of Soldaderas.
There were also the women who accompanied the soldiers in their caravans, dedicating themselves to cook food, serve as nurses and being the last hope for soldiers who were wounded in battle, and if necessary, they would assist fallen guerillas, taking their weapons, and firing at the enemy.
With our new “Soldadera Edition“, Casa 1910 is honoring the immensely brave and powerful women who took part in the Mexican Revolution.

Petra Herrera “Sampetrina” was a brave Soldadera of the Revolution. She actively participated in the struggle, disguising her gender to join the forces commanded by Pancho Villa. She adopted the name Pedro Herrera and dressed as a man. She took part in innumerable battles where she stood out and achieved a notable reputation for her exemplary leadership. Despite achieving numerous significant victories, Petra was never officially recognized, leading her to abandon Villa’s forces and organize her own female-only brigade. It is said that she managed to gather up to a thousand Soldaderas. We are dedicating this cigar in Petra’s honor. We want to shine a light upon her incredible leadership and skills with explosives.
With this cigar you will experience a delicate beginning. Notes of nutmeg, freshly baked bread and oak wood remind us of the autumn season. The aroma of almonds and the woody, fresh sensation of our Mexican tobacco filler, brings our senses to the warmth of fine pastries. The cigar ends giving sensations of oak, stables and a unique sweetness that could only remind you of brown sugar. We recommend you pair this wonderful cigar with a fine Dominican Aged Rum.

The Mexican Revolution was a pivotal time in the emancipation of gender oppression, as well as an opportunity for independence from political and economic tyranny. “La Coronela” was born and raised as Amelia Robles. It was not until she joined Emiliano Zapata’s army, that she adopted the name Amelio Robles.
This cigar is an homage to “La Coronela”, a Soldadera who took part in over 70 combat missions. She earned the respect of her peers for her courage in battle, skilled use of weapons and incredible riding ability.
She was given the title of “Coronel” by Emiliano Zapata himself in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments. Although the government never formally conferred her with these titles.
“La Coronela” served as the inspiration for the creation of this complex, aromatic, and rich in flavor cigar, as a tribute to México.
This cigar offers distinct flavors and aromas which evolve beautifully as you smoke it. The best way to end a wonderful evening is by pairing this cigar along with a Cognac. The strength of the cigar balances perfectly with the complexity of this spirit.

Ángela Jiménez, known as “Teniente Angela” (Lieutenant Ángela) was a soldier, spy, explosives expert, flag bearer and sometimes a cook. Originally from Oaxaca, México, she fought in the Revolution with Pancho Villa and Emiliano Zapata’s guerrillas in the North and Center of the country.
She never let her gender define her strength, which is why her fearlessness was so remarkable and inspiring. She put aside her skirts and fought with trousers, like any other Guerillero”. After the war, she continued to fight for the rights of Chicanos and was never silent in the face of injustice.
Much like “Teniente Angela”, we want to continue fighting for those revolutionary principles which is why we have named a cigar after her in order to always remember her efforts for justice.
In this tobacco, you will find a rich combination of flavors and aromas ranging from wood, cocoa seeds, nuts, earth and black pepper. The ideal pairing for this cigar is Stout beer.
