Altadis U.S.A. has expanded the H. Upmann Nicaragua by A.J. Fernandez line with a new format, a 38 X 4 handmade cigarillo in a 6- count tin. H. Upmann Nicaragua by A.J. Fernandez was originally launched in 2017, this new version will ship mid June 2019. This new vitola is named “Papi” which is a term of endearment and a favorite of master blender A.J. Fernandez, for those close to him.
Unlike many cigarillo versions of cigars, the The H. Upmann Nicaragua Papi is a handmade, premium cigar still rolled at Tabacalera Fernandez factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. It uses the same blend as the original including an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, Nicaraguan Corojo 99 binder, and Nicaraguan Criollo 98/Dominican Piloto Cubano fillers.
“We felt strongly that A.J. Fernandez could create a small 38 X 4 sized vitola, that would fill that need for those adult consumers looking for a premium short smoke,” says H. Upmann brand manager Candela Diaz. “The H. Upmann Nicaraguan Papi is a masterpiece blend, which will be housed in an attractive and convenient, easy to carry decorative tin.”
Each tin will contain six Papi’s with an MSRP of $23.10 for the tin ($3.85 single).
