Punch (General Cigar) has announced the third cigar in their Chinese New Year Series: Punch Kung Pow! 2020 saw the release of Punch Chop Suey, and 2019 saw Punch Egg Roll.
Ed Lahmann, senior brand manager of Punch and the creator of Kung Pow! said, “The Chinese New Year Series for Punch has become a new tradition and for the 2021 release, we took a page from the Szechuan cookbooks. The medium-to-full-bodied blend is vaguely sweet with an undercurrent of spice, just like the popular Chinese food dish of the differently-spelled name. We put a new spin on the takeout container for this year’s release, and we’ve once again hit the post-holiday sweet spot for cigar lovers with a per-cigar price of just $5.99. My advice: get your hands on this one fast because it’s coming in hot!”
Punch Kung Pow! is rolled at HATSA in Danli, Honduras and uses tobacco from five countries. The blend uses a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, Honduran Habano, and filler from Brazil, Honduras, the Dominican Republic and Mexico. The cigar comes in one size, a 6” x 52 Parejo and will sell for only $5.99 each. The cigars come in bundles of 20 that are placed inside a takeout-style box that mention Year of the Ox. Punch Kung Pow! will be exclusive to brick and mortar and will ship February 15, 2021. Only 4,500 bundles will be made, an increase for 3,650 last year.
“Chinese astrology tells us that The Year of The Ox is a year of hard work, determination and rebuilding,” said Ed Lahmann. “Our ‘No Bull’ motto on the lid says it all.”
