White Hat Cigars is changing its name to La Familia Robaina. The company says the changes was made to reduce confusion and celabrate the Robaina name. The transition will be completed over the next month. La Familia Robaina will be at the IPCPR Tradeshow 2019.
“After fielding questions for the past 3.5 years about the relationship between the Robaina’s and White Hat, Hirochi and I felt it made sense to rename the company. The Robaina name is steeped in tobacco and tradition. When people are considering our cigars, we want them to know that there are 175 years of experience and tradition that have gone into every one.” – Spence Drake
The Robaina family has been growing tobacco in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba on the same farm since 1845. In 2010 they expanded their efforts into Nicaragua and Ecuador. Hirochi came into the public light in 2014 when he made the HR for Cubanacan cigars. Since then the brand was taken over by White Hat Cigars.
“Our family has always cherished the fact that we have been indirectly involved in so many celebrations of other families. Since the 1800’s our tobacco has been enjoyed at weddings, the birth of children, or the first time a father and son enjoy a cigar together. This is not something we take for granted, it’s something that we take great pride in and hope to continue for years to come.” – Hirochi Robaina
