Initial Impressions – Cohiba Serie M

Appearance: 93

“This is a very nice golden brown colored cigar with an oily sheen to the wrapper. It is fairly smooth to the touch and some veins are showing but overall it is a very nice appearance. The cap is a small twisted end with a little twist tail. The cap smooths nicely into the body of the cigar. There is no cracking at the twist or around the cap area. It has a closed foot which is also done nicely and is very smooth. This is pleasing to the eye cigar for me.” – (ArmyRN)

Aroma: 88

“I get a slight almond note along with a nice earthy leather scent on the foot.” – ()

First Third

Flavor: 89
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“I enjoyed a nice nutty flavor right from the first puff. It was reminiscent of unsalted cashews mixed with cedar and some black pepper in the background. It took about an inch in for me to pick up slight lemon citrus floating in and out. The pepper all but disappeared about a half-inch in and the cigar became very smooth. The nutty notes have now become more like almonds and as I approach the end of the 1st third the citrus has mixed with a slight floral note.” – (ArmyRN)

“Right off the bat, I noticed the creamy almond flavor that I had smelled. There is also a surprising note of black pepper, especially on the retrohale. Leather and earth are also rather present and just a hint of caramel in the background.” – ()

Second Third

Flavor: 90
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“Second third comes into play with a smooth nuttiness and a spiciness on the back end.” – (Bearded Bastard)

“The strength has picked up just a bit moving into more a medium. The caramel is becoming more prominent on the palate and the blend is even creamier. The spice has faded and bit and gives a bit more white pepper flavor now. Occasionally it almost tastes like salted caramel.” – ()

Flavor: 88
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium

“Flavor now is clove with some mild fruit stone to citrus type flavor. Very light with some sweetness has started to come through. Nice even burn the whole way through.” – (Chad Tchad)

“The pepper is coming back more into the forefront and loading up just a touch. A bit of smoky flavor is also coming in giving a slight burnt flavor. A little hint of espresso bitterness is also coming out in the background.” – ()

Overall Impressions – Cohiba Serie M

Draw: 95

“Good even draw with no issues through the whole smoke.” – (Chad Tchad)

Burn: 93

“The burn was sharp and even on this cigar. I never had to relight or touch up during the smoking experience. That is always a huge plus for me. The ash was a very light gray with minimal darker spots throughout. The ash was fairly light and did tap easily but also did not simply fall on its own without my tapping it. Smoke was a nice quantity but not overly plentiful.” – (ArmyRN)

Construction: 91

“My only real complaint with the construction was a stem sticking out near the cap of this cigar but it never caused any issues. For a more fancy roll it was done beautifully.” – ()

Overall Body/Complexity: Medium
Experience Overall: 91

“Started off as a pepper bomb that dropped off to mild flavors. Sweetness picked up on the end. Pretty good flavors; could have had a little better transitions.” – (Chad Tchad)

“This is a great naturally sweet cigar. The creamy caramel flavor with a nice pepper kick. A good complex blend that transitioned well. Notes of almond, leather, earth, white pepper, and smokiness. The construction was absolutely on point with a gorgeous well-holding ash. Really the only big complaint was a slightly uneven burn that I did have to touch up a bit.” – ()

“A pretty good smoke overall, slight imperfections like the cracked wrapper, the need for touch-ups, and the loose draw made it burn a bit hot on the last end, but overall I liked it.” – (Bearded Bastard)

“I found this cigar to be very intriguing. It's a good-looking cigar and well constructed. For a medium-strength cigar it provided a consistent foundation of flavor while introducing variations throughout the entire smoke. The weaving of flavors, with the majority of them combining in the second third, really kept me interested and enjoying this stick. I would definitely revisit this cigar. Good looking and good tasting.” – (ArmyRN)
