At this years’ IPCPR Battleground Cigars had an interesting set up, their display was basically a small pup tent, but inside they had plenty to offer….let’s get right to it:
Battleground has decided to play around with Honduran Puro Mardo wrappers , and have resurrected a few brands with new wrappers and new packaging artwork.
This is a Honduran Puro Marduro wrapper, binder, and filler. It’s full in flavor, but well balanced, so it won’t punch you in the face. The Battleground will come in both Toro & Robusto sizes.
This is a cigar that was resurrected from an older blend. It has a Connecticut Seed wrapper from Ecuador. The Rebel has a very silky texture to it. It will be a light to medium in strength with flavors of coffee and cream.
Old Powdered Keg Colonel (OPK):
OPK is not a new cigar, but it is getting packaging, and new blends
Filler: Dominican & Nicaraguan
Binder: Connecticut Broadleaf
Has also been given new packaging/artwork that really POPS!
OPK Maduro has a Maduro/Corojo wrapper that Battleground has dubbed “The Chocolate Brownie Of Cigars.”
Has a Peruvian leaf filler which gives it citrus & spice notes. Battleground claims the Corona size is the best in the OPK Fire.
Is a special series of cigars developed by the owner’s son for various branches and units of America’s military. They started working with some army rangersand owners of Leadslingers Whiskey, which is an all veteran owned company. https://www.leadslingerswhiskey.com The cigar is aged in whiskey barrels for 90 days. The Darby also has a Honduran Puro which comes in a full glass size Toro tubo, and will retail for $15. Battleground also offer a four stick gift box wrapped in “Purple Heart Cedar.”
Another cigar that has been resurrected, this cigar is a decade old and originally made with Louisiana Perique Tobacco. The new Mysterioso will have a Honduran Puro blend that gives it a Molasses cookie (sweet/spice) flavor to it. The Mysterioso will be in Robusto sizes in very beautiful glass tubos.
