New Cohiba Spectre from General on the Way – Cigar News

General cigar has announced the fourth iteration of Cohiba Spectre, the brand’s small batch, ultra luxury cigar. The blend for Cohiba Spectre uses five varietals of tobacco, each some of the highest quality tobaccos of the growing regions, soils and microclimates from which they were harvested.

Cohiba Spectre 2022 embodies our tradition of creating exceptional smoking experiences. We spent two years developing this extraordinary cigar, calling upon our passion for tobacco, commitment to craftsmanship and our love of design. As with previous Cohiba Spectre releases, the 2022 expression is peerless, and can never be replicated.

Cohiba Spectre is rolled in Santiago, Dominican Republic at General Cigar Dominicana. The blend uses a rare aged Brazilian wrapper leaf that was harvested in 2008 and selected for both the intricate notes it imparts, as for the luster of its appearance. Cohiba Spectre 2022 is the first time a Brazilian wrapper has been used in a Cohiba cigar. Cohiba Spectre debuted in 2018 with reprisals in 2019 and 2021.

The company says the binder is a wrapper-quality leaf made when General Cigar’s agronomists crossed Pelo d’Oro with a Connecticut leaf to create a hybrid they named Pelo d’Oro Connecticut. It was grown in “innovation” fields in Mao, DR where the agronomists cultivate tobacco for small batch releases.

The filler uses tobaccos from Honduran Jamastran, Olancho San Agustin and La Entrada, with Nicaraguan Estelí Ligero and Viso leaves blended with Dominican Piloto Cubano. Only 600 boxes of Cohiba Spectre 2022 were made, and only two pairs of rolled were allowed to craft the cigars: Ms. Carmen Carolina Toribio and Mr. Bernavel Sanches, roller and buncher, respectively, and Ms. Isabel Rodriguez with Ms. Rosmery Gomez, roller and buncher, respectively were selected to handmake Cohiba Spectre 2022.

Cohiba Spectre 2022 will come in just one size, a 6” x 52 Toro. The cigar is presented in a soft-touch matte box with a customized hydraulic system that elevates the cigars, each protected in individual gold and silver tubes enhanced with exclusive individual humidification from Integra Boost™.

The cigars will ship mid-March 2023 and are going to sell for $1,299.90 for the box. Individual cigars will sell for a suggested retail price of $129.99. Once the blend is gone, it will not be re-released.
