This cigar is without a doubt, one of the best cigars to come out of the Pepin factory in recent memory. If the Oro de Nicaragua had come out three months ago, we’re sure it would have topped Cigar Aficionados best cigars list! The pre-light draw on this cigar has a pleasant sweetness to it, and at a glance the wrapper looks like a piece of fine leather. Once lit, the Oro de Nicaragua gives off some spice with a floral note through the retrohale, and none of it leaves a funny aftertaste. The roll is tight enough to hold half the cigars worth of ash, and you can set it down without fear of it rapidly going out. The smoke is smooth throughout, and you find yourself wanting to light up another just after you finish; it’s That good.

“This robusto sized cigar had a maduro colored wrapper that was shiny and smooth, that was very thin, and it was flaking and cracked. There were thin to medium veins, a barely visible seam and a triple cap.” -Craig (WyldKnyght)

“The lack of any initial spiciness allows a lot of flavors to come through. Oak and cedar, wet and dry grasses with a slightly burnt molasses in the background. Cedar appears to be winning to war of the woods the further into smoke. Well balanced and flavorful.” -Gregg (McGreggor57)

“The flavors from the first third persisted, but intensified in quality. The deep, rich low notes of leather added a beautiful backdrop for the more diaphanous hints of cedar. A slight raisin-like flavor was also introduced which was welcomed.” -Kent (Throck)

“The last third turns spicy, exhibiting notes of cayenne pepper which are deftly balance by flavors of unsweetened cocoa powder. Turns slightly rougher at the nub, though not harsh, so I ended up smoking it till my finger got too close to the embers (which I usually don’t do).” -Stefan (Stefan)
