The Tobacconists Association of America begins meeting this weekend for its annual convention, and there will be three new cigars offered strictly for sale at TAA shops. Major brands Avo, La Flor Dominicana and Tatuaje are offering retailer exclusives only for TAA members, and all will ship later this year.
The Avo Movement, the Davidoff TAA exclusive, is the first Avo to be box-pressed in the history of the brand. They’ll come in 20-count boxes and be priced at $11 per cigar. Davidoff plans to ship these in October, assuming a reserve is met for orders.
La Flor Dominicana is taking a successful size and giving it an extra kick for the TAA shops with the La Flor Dominicana Double Press Maduro. A Dominican blend, the original Double Press maduro was made with an Ecuadoran wrapper leaf. The TAA maduro sports a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper. It measures 6 inches by 52 ring, comes in boxes of 20 and will sell for $8. They’ll ship in May.
Tatuaje 10 Years is a Nicaraguan cigar adorned with an Ecuador Habano wrapper. Brand owner Pete Johnson says he has not finalized the size for the TAA exclusive yet, and is planning to speak to retailers during the convention to determine what the dimensions will be. Price and shipping date info will be determined after that. The cigar celebrates 10 years of the Tatuaje brand.
