The La Aurora107 was released in 2010 to celebrate the company’s 107th tears in business. The La Aurora | 107Maduro was announced that same year but didn’t make it’s first appearance until 2011 where it briefly was sold by Cigar King as a pre-release in a 7 x 58 Gran 107 vitola. The next year, it was announced that the blend would be changing before making its full debut which didn’t occur until 2013.
This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience.
The blend originally used a maduro version of the wrapper found on the regular 107 line, but once it made it to full production and release, it used a Connecticut broadleaf. The blend now comes in four vitolas: Corona (5 1/2 x 42) – $6.65, Robusto (5 x 50) – $6.95, Toro (5 1/2 x 54) – $8.00, and Belicoso (6 1/4 x 52) – $8.80. The cigar was originally a TAA exclusive cigar.

“The second third of this stick starts off much the same as the first. A musty rich tobacco is the main flavor profile. The licorice flavors I detected in the first third have been muted and relegated to the finish. I’d really hoped it would open up but the draw remains much tighter than I prefer. “Still only mildly average in complexity, the strength has picked up, and flavor has finally started becoming more than just average. Hints of roasted nuts, malt, and hay are present, with the mineral aspect still around but not as noticeable. It’s a shame it took this cigar until the final 1/3 to show it’s potential.” –Nate H.
