Cigar Info
The JRE Aladino Cameroon gets its inspiration from the old Camacho Select that came out in 2006. Julio Eiroa made that cigar before he sold the Camacho brand to Davidoff and was designed to be something totally different from the normally corojo filled cigars they were known form. It used Cameroon tobacco grown in Africa by the Meerapfel family.
Fast forward to 2020 and Julio wanted to create another Cameroon blend, but this time wanted to grown his own version of Cameron tobacco. The Cameroon used for the Aladino Cameroon is grown in Honduras. He procured the seeds from an international leaf broker after 3.5 years finally came up with the Cameroon he was satisfied with. The blend took some time to tweak as the original test blends were too close to existing cameroon wrapped cigars on the market. The final product uses a good balance of corojo. It comes in three sizes: Robusto (5 x 50) – $8.80, Lonsdale (6 x 43) – $7.80, and Super Toro (6 x 52) – $9.80.

Initial Impressions
Appearance: 91
“Impeccable feel and look to this robusto. The wrapper is almost velvet like to the touch. Color is a gorgeous light brown hue. Very impressed by the looks of this. ” –Kevin J. (maninblack77)
Aroma: 93
“Notes of sweet tea on the cold draw. Upon lighting and a few puffs, oak notes come through.” –Sean F. (fullermaine)
First Third
Flavor: 91
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“Initially greeted with cinnamon and coffee, nothing over-powering and spicy. I’m also getting some salt and leather which sound off-putting but are subtle enough to enjoy.” –Doug S. (Unpossible_1)
“While the cold draw revealed little other than a slight hint of mint, upon ignition there’s an immediate medium-strength spice delivered via the retrohale and rich earth and black coffee on the draw. The draw is just slightly tight so we’ll have to see if that opens up a bit as the smoking experience continues. At about the one inch mark that mint which revealed itself on the cold draw creeps in on the draw just slightly but it’s a welcome addition to the profile, especially considering the spice is starting to calm way down through the nose.” –Matt Cade (CadeTNCC)
Second Third
Flavor: 91
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“Not really a whole lot of change from the first third here. The cedar and allspice are still there, as is the orange zest. There is a little saltiness in the finish, and just a hint of peanut shells. The retrohale has tamed immensely, and is now more of a white pepper or baking spice than peppercorn. Burn and draw are still great” –Kevin A. (Kevin A.)
“The transition into the second third is very smooth. Im still getting alot of that pleasant graham cracker and nutmeg but I also am getting a slight clover honey sweetness at times. Really mixes well with the previous flavors. Burn continues to impress. I had to tap the ash off over an inch into it, and I have a feeling it could have held on much longer. Really solid second third. ” –Kevin J. (maninblack77)
Final Third
Flavor: 92
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“Oak and tea notes on the front end, reappear on the back end. A few more puffs and cherry chocolate notes round this stick out.” –Sean F. (fullermaine)
“In the final third, the spice picks up tremendously through the nose and the draw is back to equal parts black coffee and earth. This cigar has featured some very interesting fluctuations to say the least. Construction remains exceptional.” –Matt Cade (CadeTNCC)
Overall Impressions
Draw: 94
“No problems with the draw or lighting. Absolutely perfect!” –Sean F. (fullermaine)
Burn: 92
“Even burn from beginning to end. A beautiful grey-white ash that hangs on for two inches or better.” –Sean F. (fullermaine)
Construction: 95
“Time and great tobacco were definitely big factors in this cigar. Very well constructed. ” –Kevin J. (maninblack77)
Overall Strength: Medium
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium
Experience Overall: 93
“A simple and excellent cigar. Wood, tea, and cherry chocolate notes round this stick out. I wanted another one to enjoy and a few more for my humidor. A perfect cigar to enjoy with fellow cigar smokers. Grab a few when the opportunity presents itself.” –Sean F. (fullermaine)
“While definitely a mild to medium bodied cigar, it delivers where it matters. The flavors worked so well together. No really big transitions, but nonetheless it was very enjoyable and I would definitely smoke more of these. I’d give this a score of ‘great’. Highly recommended.” –Kevin J. (maninblack77)
“Aside from the grassy/bitter start, this was a fairly enjoyable cigar. The pepper was a little prominent at times and really made the nose and tongue tingle, but the creaminess of the smoke smoothed everything out. This is definitely not a first thing in the morning cigar, and while not overly strong, would probably be best enjoyed by smokers with a little experience under their belt. Pairing wise, it is wide open what this would pair with, but I would go with a nice highland Scotch.” –Kevin A. (Kevin A.)
“I liked this cigar quite a bit. The retrohale spice kept fluctuating and I like when a cigar keeps me guessing. The flavors themselves switched back and forth between the nose and the draw and they all took turns in the spotlight before receding into the background only to emerge later on as a prominent force. At a smoke time of a little under an hour, I’d definitely smoke this cigar again given the right price point.” –Matt Cade (CadeTNCC)
“This cigar had some great potential, but that last third really killed it for me. Flavorless cigars are a no-go.” –Doug S. (Unpossible_1)
