Cigar Info
Aguila is the house blend of popular online cigar shop, iHavanas. It was released in 2016 and is rolled in Nicaragua. We reviewed the same cigar from the same box back in 2017 and gave it an 88. We wanted to see how 4 years of age would change them and based on the final score, it looks like time helped this a lot. iHavanas is mostly known for being a sellers of Cuban cigars at a reasonable price. Aguila translates to “eagle” in spanish; an eagle is prominently featured on the coat of arms and flag of Geneva, where iHavanas is located.
This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience.
Aguila comes in three sizes: Robusto (4.9 x 50, $47 per box of 10), Sublime (6.5 x 54, $49 per box of 10), and Torpedo (6.1 x 52, $48 per box of 10). The tobaccos include an Ecuadorian Maduro wrapper, a Jalapa binder, and long-filler from Estelí. It does looks like iHavanas has stopped producing them since 2016, but you can still buy them in the robusto size here: iHavanas.com

Initial Impressions
Appearance: 91
“Coming in at what appears to be a 6”1/2 X 52 ring gauge, this cigar sports a firm attractive pack, surrounded by a beautiful rustic looking, milk chocolate/tan wrapper. No visible flaws or soft spots. Minimal veins, tight & nearly invisible seams, double cap/open foot.” –Randy B. (randobush)”
Aroma: 89
“A mild chocolate aroma off the foot with slight floral hints as well.” –Lauren S. (Lauren S.)
First Third
Flavor: 93
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“A Smooth easy draw, & good hand feel start us off with a note of dry toast, peanut brittle, coffee & cocoa powder. Retro is smooth and adds a little baking spice.” –Randy B. (randobush)
“Cigar is medium in strength. Very smooth and very balanced. Notes of leather and aged tobacco and dark chocolate. The draw is very pleasing and burn is pretty stellar.” –Ryan H. (Ryan H.)
Second Third
Flavor: 92
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“A minerally earth flavor has become prominent while the cedar is still prevalent in the background. The floral flavors still show up every few puffs but have greatly faded. A slight smoked red pepper note has appeared in the retrohale introducing the first bit of spice in this blend.” –Lauren S. (Lauren S.)
“Mostly leather and wood, the nuttiness took a back seat” –Joseph S. (Bearded Bastard)
Final Third
Flavor: 88
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“Toffee still (described as peanut brittle in the first third), leather, graham cracker, light baking spice.
Medium finish now leaves a faint sweet smoked paprika (maybe even sweet cayenne) on the palate between puffs. It really is a delightful morning smoke with coffee, while being quite pleasant enough for daily consumption.” –Randy B. (randobush)
“Profile darkens quite a bit aged tobacco takes the front seat and envelops the whole of the profile. Cigar strength increases to medium-plus” –Ryan H. (Ryan H.)
Overall Impressions
Draw: 95
“Very wonderful draw throughout the experience. I am usually quite picky when it comes to draw, and I love this draw.” –Ryan H. (Ryan H.)
Burn: 92
“Burn started off great but began to run a bit at the halfway point. I ended up having to touch up the wrapper a couple of times because large pieces would just not burn evenly.” –Lauren S. (Lauren S.)
Construction: 93
“This cigar looked good, felt good, smoked well, and performed flawlessly.” –Randy B. (randobush)

Overall Body/Complexity: Medium
Experience Overall: 94
“Would buy a box without a second thought.” –Ryan H. (Ryan H.)
“A very solid cigar until the final third. A great draw with nice smoke production and good floral and cedar flavors that transitioned into a nice earthy blend. Sadly it loaded up quite a bit in the final third ruining the profile. I would definitely try this cigar again and see if not having to touch it up would solve the final third bitterness.” –Lauren S. (Lauren S.)
“I really enjoyed the flavor profile of the first third, after that, it was good but just wasn’t as good as the first third. Overall, a decent cigar for sure.” –Joseph S. (Bearded Bastard)
“This cigar intrigued me for some reason. It was quite enjoyable. Its rustic appearance, performance, flavors, and friendship with my palate led me to think that I would like to smoke this cigar again. Perfect for a walk, a drive, or just sitting around with coffee on a lazy Sunday morning.” –Randy B. (randobush)
