La Flor Dominicana is celebrating 30 years in the cigar industry with the release of the LFD 30 Years commemorative cigar. Founded by Litto and Ines Gomez in 1994, La Flor Dominicana has become renowned for producing some of the most powerful cigars available. This limited-edition cigar honors their journey from their initial mild blends under the Los Libertadores brand to their current bold offerings.
This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience.
The LFD 30 Years cigar is presented in La Flor’s iconic Chisel shape, a 6 1/2 x 58 box-pressed figurado with unique tapers. The blend features a dark Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, an aged binder from Cotuí in the Dominican Republic, and fillers from La Flor’s farm in La Canela. Described as “rich and decadent, with a depth of dark flavors, spice, and body,” this cigar is expected to deliver the robust profile that La Flor Dominicana is known for.
Each cigar is housed in a special humidor crafted at La Flor Dominicana‘s box factory in the Dominican Republic. Limited to only 2,000 humidors, each containing 60 cigars, this release is set to be a collector’s item. The humidors were showcased at the 2024 PCA Convention & Trade Show in Las Vegas.

Initial Impressions – La Flor Dominicana 30 Years
Appearance: 95
“The chisel head and tapered body look great. It sort of narrows down what company may have made this as there aren’t a lot of factories making this shape. The wrapper looks nice with a brown sugar hue. There are a few chips in the wrapper the most notable at the foot.” –Alan (Eulogy)
Aroma: 95
“The wrapper aroma is full of intoxicating spice with a slightly sweet note. At the foot, I detect slightly musty tobacco that speaks to me of age and flavor! I’m really looking forward to lighting this one up.” –Jason H. (Jokey Smurf)
First Third
Flavor: 94
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“Occasionally, if you squeeze the head it will open with a perfect draw with this shape. I found it a touch tight so i did a shallow cut and the draw is great. The burn and smoke output is fantastic with a good punch of nicotine to boot. Notes of stone fruit, baking spice, coffee, and black pepper coat the palate with an almost syrupy mouthfeel.” –Alan (Eulogy)
“A very smooth start. Hot cocoa powder, oak, and a creamy cashew mix together up front. Oily black peppercorn sits in the background, except through the retrohale, where it leaves a solid amount of spice. Off and on I get a moderate hit of berry sweetness. Around an inch in, oak picks up just a bit more than the rest, mostly on the finish. Nearing the second third, the peppercorn on the retrohale loses its bite.” –Chris M. (Chris)
Second Third
Flavor: 94
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium
“In the second, and third, the bitter dark chocolate started to decrease, but then ramped back up. There is still lots of baking spice and a bit of black pepper. Coming in on the second third is a small amount of leather flavor. The smoke remains a bit dry, but still very cool in temperature. Very good.” –Angel M. (Angel)
“Into the middle portion the charges have remained complex soft but my no means absent. The spicy nature of the smoke has remained yet there is a sweet licorice note as well that has me captivated. For clarity, when I say spicy I don’t mean hot, but instead mean exotic, like a perfectly balanced meal. I’m absolutely loving this!” –Jason H. (Jokey Smurf)
Final Third
Flavor: 95
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
“Earthy Coffee ends up with oak up top getting into this final third. Creamy cashew and the floral/citric sweetness just beneath that. A little bit of cinnamon with the black peppercorn, a spicy tingle now lasting through the finish. The creamy cashew builds, hitting an even balance with the oak and coffee a little deeper into this section.” –Chris M. (Chris)
“Notes of brown sugar, stone fruit, baking spice, rich tobacco, and mild pepper round out the very bold profile at the end. The sweetness really adds a nice dimension to soften the strength since it becomes very strong at the end.” –Alan (Eulogy)
Overall Impressions – La Flor Dominicana 30 Years
Draw: 93
“This sample was as close to perfect as any I have ever experienced in regard to draw. Perfect resistance resulted in just the right draw and subsequently, I got rich and flavorful smoke. If only they could all be this way!” –Jason H. (Jokey Smurf)
Burn: 98
“The burn was off and on wavy. It always self corrected, so no touch ups necessary.” –Chris M. (Chris)
Construction: 96
“The shape of this cigar is difficult to make and they nailed it. With a solid body, large flag, and drum tight seams it looked great and was very well made.” –Alan (Eulogy)
Overall Strength: Medium-Strong
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
Experience Overall: 95
“Overall, this was a very good cigar. It encompass most of the flavors I find enjoyable with the dark chocolate which transitioned into a nice cocoa flavor, as well as baking spice and the addition of leather in the background. Also as the cigar smooth out from 3rd to 3rd it managed to keep me interested. I would definitely recommend this cigar for individuals who like a boulder flavored cigar and have some time to smoke. It should be noted there is a bit of a nicotine buzz that comes along with this cigar.” –Angel M. (Angel)
“This was a very enjoyable cigar from start to finish. There was a decent amount of complexity. The transitions flowed seamlessly, and the flavors were solid. I don’t always go for oak (or any wood) heavy cigars, but the balancing flavors did their job well. This is one I could easily rotate in on occasion. You definitely need a good chunk of time to enjoy this one.” –Chris M. (Chris)
“This is a great cigar for the end of the evening with its bold flavors and incredibly bold strength. I really found the notes of stone fruit and sweetness to be engaging with a creamy smoke output. Everything about this cigar screams luxury and well worth anyone’s time.” –Alan (Eulogy)
“This was a cigar that I was eager to smoke based on the appearance and I was completely rewarded. The flavors were captivating and had me enthralled from the first to last puff. This was easily my most enjoyable cigar to review this year and I can’t wait for the reveal so I can buy a box or two. Very highly recommended!” –Jason H. (Jokey Smurf)
