Cigar Info
In June of this year, ACE Prime announced a new cigar in the Luciano line that would be released at the PCA 2021 Trade Show. This would be the third cigar in the Luciano series, and the first regular production. ACE Prime Fiat Lux by Luciano follows the Luciano The Dreamer and Luciano The Traveller.
This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience.
“Fiat Lux” is a Latin expression that was popular during the intellectual movement of the Enlightenment and represents the search for knowledge and meaning. Luciano Meirelles says that the blend is meant to generate deliberation, and “provokes an inevitable exploration of flavors as it ignites the taste buds for the sake of discovery. Enlightenment is a natural, mindful consequence of its physical attributes.”
ACE Prime Fiat Lux by Luciano is made in four vitolas: Acumen 6 x 56 $ 10.75, Geniuses 5 1/2 x 52 $ 10.00, Intuitions 5 x 50 $ 9.50, and Insights 5 5/8 x 46 $ 8.75. The blend for this new cigar is different than the one used in The Dreamer and The Traveller. Fiat Lux uses the same Sumatra wrapper, but does not have the pelo do oro from the original. Fiat Lux comes in boxes of 20.

Initial Impressions – ACE Prime Fiat Lux by Luciano Intuitions
Appearance: 95
“The wrapper on this cigar sports a slightly oily, reddish-brown hue that is smooth to the touch. There are a few small flat veins. The cigar is rolled tightly with visible seams and finished with a wonderfully applied triple cap.” –Estevan Z. (TheRealBanzi)
Aroma: 91
“The wrapper is rich and full of composted tobacco flavors while the foot is just slightly spicy. Overall the cigar is very aromatic.” –Jason H. (Jokey Smurf)
First Third
Flavor: 91
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“The Initial flavors on this sample are slightly sharp and just a hint acrid. For some, this may sound undesirable but for me, it just grabs my attention. The smoke has a very oily characteristic that is totally coating my palate and leaving me with a long and spicy finish. A few puffs in and the acrid note is gone and replaced with buttery walnut and a nice hot spice through the nose.” –Jason H. (Jokey Smurf)
“After putting fire to the foot, I am greeted by oak sawdust and graham cracker sweetness. After a few minutes, the sawdust falls away. As I push some smoke through my sinuses, I am taken aback by how much cinnamon I find. Digging a little deeper and I am able to find a little citrus note as well. The smoke is light and velvety, while the finish is of a medium length.” –Estevan Z. (TheRealBanzi)
Second Third
Flavor: 93
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Light-Medium
“Second picks up dry grasses, mostly in retro. There is a sensation of peppercorn. Otherwise, the nut butter continues on throughout this third as well, though at a milder note than before.” –Isaac M. (The Nothing)
“The second third begins similar to the beginning. There is some dry cocoa that enters the mix but the predominant flavors are leather and graham cracker. The retro is smooth with some kitchen spices. The burn gets slightly wavy but is easily corrected. Enjoyable mild to medium cigar thus far. Let’s head to the finish line and see what we get.” –Kevin J. (maninblack77)
Final Third
Flavor: 94
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
“As I reach the last third the flavor profile jumps from coffee notes to stone fruit notes with a touch of umami to balance it all out. All of this is making my mouth water. As I reach the last inch the there is one final shift in profile. Cinnamon starts biting the tip of my tongue. This carries me to the very end of the cigar. The smoke has stayed velvety but the finish is long due to the cinnamon.” –Estevan Z. (TheRealBanzi)
“As the final portion begins the buttery flavors are leaving and the earthy notes are coming into full effect. There is just a bit of charred wood in the front and the earthy notes linger into the next puff. This is really a nice transition into a fuller-bodied profile and it’s very welcome. Through the nose, the pepper is leaving and I’m getting a bit of leather…interesting for sure!” –Jason H. (Jokey Smurf)

Draw: 97
“The draw was solid from start to finish. It allowed the cigar to burn very cool. This made it easy to detect all of the delicate flavor and profile changes.” –Estevan Z. (TheRealBanzi)
Burn: 94
“Outstanding burn from start to finish. Nearly razor’s edge.” –Isaac M. (The Nothing)
Construction: 95
“Construction is spot on. I can’t complain about anything on this cigar.” –Kevin J. (maninblack77)
Overall Strength: Medium
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium
Experience Overall: 94
“This was a damn fine cigar that caught my attention early on and only got better. This is one I would gladly smoke regularly and I can see myself investing in a box of these. I’m very impressed!” –Jason H. (Jokey Smurf)
“This cigar is all about the delicate transitions! There were quite a few of them in this small cigar. If you are looking for a kick in the teeth, this cigar is not for you. But, if you like light, delicate, and sweet flavor notes this is for you. Would pair perfectly with your morning coffee or any rum-based cocktail. I’m sure a few of these cigars will find it into my personal humidor and hopefully yours too. Enjoy.” –Estevan Z. (TheRealBanzi)
“The first two minutes of the cigar was unlike the rest of it. Such a significant amount of pepper disappeared after that. Most of the cigar was fairly monotonous. The finish though, wow, the last third of this cigar really woke up and I couldn’t have been happier that it finally came around. Now if the whole cigar was like the end then we’d have a fabulous number but since it only makes up for the last 20 minutes or so it’s just too little too late.” –Isaac M. (The Nothing)
“A very enjoyable cigar experience with a mixture of flavors that work well together. Complex? Not really. But that isn’t always a bad thing. It was a good cigar in this size. If it was a toro or bigger I may have gotten bored with it but it works as a Robusto. I would definitely try this again. Worthy of a fiver for sure. ” –Kevin J. (maninblack77)
