Initial Impressions
Appearance: 89
“Pale light brown wrapper with a firm and even pack. Veins are, for the most part, unpressed. Head is finished off with a well adhered triple cap.” –Jiunn (jliu)
Aroma: 90
“Aroma of sweet nutmeg, light cedar and earthy tobacco.” –Ron (shuckins)
First Third
Flavor: 87
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
“This cigar started out with lots of very spicy flavor, and then became very peppery. Tasted like cayenne pepper.” –Craig (WyldKnyght)
“I enjoyed the first third immensely, which was defined by notes of cherries and walnut: two flavors that I rarely find in my cigars. This was a pleasant surprise along with the tightly packed ash that clung on nicely for over an inch. If not for the uneven burning due to the wrapper disintegrating before my eyes, this third would have likely received a higher rating due to the complexity.” –Kent (Throck)
Second Third
Flavor: 87
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
“The plug issue continues into the second third of this cigar. The floral flavors are still present with a very smooth retrohale. The finish to the second third stays the same with very little complexity to the flavor profile.” –Steve (ThaGreatWazoo)
“I was quite pleased that the complexity held up during the second third. The walnut slowly transitioned into a more almond profile and the cherry delivered the same punch as it had in the first third. The wrapper issue became less of an issue as the end of the tear terminated during this third.” –Kent (Throck)
Final Third
Flavor: 88
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“Cedar is the star, and with the support of a creamy tasting nutmeg, it leads the way to the finish. The earthy tasting tobacco takes a back seat but remains friends with a splash of pepper that provides more of a tap dance than a kick, which was cool to the taste.” –Ron (shuckins)
“Last third mimics the first and second thirds. Still getting heavy sweet cream, barnyard and cedar with pretty much no spice present. The finish is still bitter. Body and strength still at a solid medium.” –Jiunn (jliu)
Overall Impressions
Draw: 85
“Since the initial light, I had some draw issues. I found that I had to work harder for this cigar, especially in the final third, to gather up enough smoke. As stated prior, the final third became almost unbearable to draw.” –Kent (Throck)
Burn: 91
“The cigar did have an excellent burn, with sharp lines and surprisingly no need to touch up. Never once did I have to relight the stick, but this could be attributed to the amount of effort I put into it to try to fix the plug issue.” –Steve (ThaGreatWazoo)
Construction: 85
“This cigar was very firm when squeezed. The ash was nice and solid, with a medium to dark grey color. The smoke was light and wispy.” –Craig (WyldKnyght)
Overall Strength: Medium
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
Overall Experience: 86
“A decent smoking cigar with a nice blend of tasty flavors, none of which stepped out on its own.” –Ron (shuckins)
“Overall, the smoking experience was cheated due to the plug issues. My assumption is that without the draw problems this cigar would have ranked highly. The floral flavors with caramel undertones were very pleasant, considering. I hope my fellow reviewers did not get stuck in the same boat as me because the potential for this stick to be excellent is there.” –Steve (ThaGreatWazoo)
“Overall, this was a very good cigar, although there were not a lot of flavor changes, I still enjoyed it. I would smoke this cigar again.” –Craig (WyldKnyght)
“Overall, this was a mediocre cigar. If you are someone who enjoys drinking sweet, heavy milk, you should buy a master case of these. The sweet, heavy cream was overwhelming for me to the point where it almost made me feel nauseous. That, and the finish of bitterness makes it a cigar that I will easily pass on.” –Jiunn (jliu)
“I really enjoyed the flavors and complexity of this cigar, but it was the construction issues and draw that almost made this unsmokeable; therefore, I would love to give this one another chance as I believe aging this in a tightly controlled humidor for a few months might really let this shine.” –Kent (Throck)
