Cigar Info
In March of 2023, Emmett had the pleasure of joining the Camp Camacho experience with the Cigar Dojo group. As part of that experience, every attendee has the opportunity to blend their own cigar. During the blending session each participant is given samples of tobaccos known as puritos which is just one type of tobacco rolled into a mini cigar so you can get the characteristics of that specific tobacco and incorporate it into your blend. The challenge is to find tobaccos that not only mix with flavor-wise, but also contain the right burning characteristics to stay lit and burn properly.
This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience.
Every attendee of Camp Camacho blended their own cigar, the one reviewed today is the one blended by Blind Man’s Puff owner, Emmett Malone.

Appearance: 94
“Very dark reddish brown color to the cigar. The cigar has some roughness to it of being lumpy with some seams and veins noted.” –Chad M. (Chad Tchad)
Aroma: 93
“Smells like a Hershey bar. Sweet cocoa, but also something oddly artificial about it (sorry this cigar and Hershey). It’s not pungent enough to make me think infused, but it’s so well defined I can’t help but wonder.” –Bill C. (Bill)
First Third
Flavor: 90
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium
“Starting off there is a start bite to this cigar with some charred bitter flavors. After that, a sweeter flavor with some floral notes picks up. Some of the flavors are almost a sweet tea with some cherry flavor. Retrohale is very hot of strong black pepper.” –Chad M. (Chad Tchad)
“The cigar opens with a blast of earthiness; It dries the palate out instantly. It backs off rapidly leaving a woody finish. After pushing some smoke out of my nose I am greeted by a creamy characteristic with a peppery finish. As I hit the inch mark, a coffee note starts to cover the palate. This carries me through the rest of the third. The mouthfeel is oily and the finish is relatively long.” –Estevan Z. (TheRealBanzi)
Second Third
Flavor: 92
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
“The second third opened up with a slight uptick in leather and coffee notes to go along with the dark chocolate and earth. Still medium-bodied but a nice complex smoke so far. The burn continues to impress me. Excellent second third.” –Kevin J. (maninblack77)
“The profile brightens up. The earth is lighter, and the coffee flavor loses most of the over-roasted qualities and moves to a more medium status. I still find myself looking for some sweetness, but this third was more my speed, and that heavy earth flavor is a big miss for my preferences.” –Bill C. (Bill)
Final Third
Flavor: 92
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
“I found the strength picked up a bit in the final third but the flavors continued to be right in my wheelhouse. Lots of earth, dark chocolate, coffee, black cherry, and leather notes. It was a cigar I had to nub due to how much I enjoyed it.” –Kevin J. (maninblack77)
“Entering the last third there is a smoky hickory note building as a nice complement to the citrus note from the last third. The retrohale has lody all of its pepper bite and is now full on cream notes. The final third of this cigar is a masterpiece in my opinion. Mouthfeel has stayed oil for the entire smoking experience and the finish is long.” –Estevan Z. (TheRealBanzi)
Overall Impressions – Camacho – Camp Camacho Personal Blend – Emmett Malone
Draw: 92
“Good, but oddly inconsistent. I didn’t mention this in the body of the review because it never affected the performance or tasting ability of the cigar but portions of the draw skewed loose, while other skewed tight.” –Bill C. (Bill)
Burn: 97
“The burn line on this cigar was straight and thin. Even throughout with no touch-ups needed.” –Estevan Z. (TheRealBanzi)
Construction: 92
“Outside of one small spot that was slightly underfilled the bunch and roll was excellent. This allowed me to build a firm ash that held on for an inch at a time.” –Estevan Z. (TheRealBanzi)
Overall Strength: Medium-Strong
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium-Full
Experience Overall: 93
“This cigar was right in my wheelhouse as far as flavors go. Lots of earth, dark chocolate, leather, coffee and some black cherry and walnut notes. This is definitely one of the better maduros I’ve enjoyed lately and I am anxious to see what it is. Highly recommended for fans of full flavored, full bodied smokes.” –Kevin J. (maninblack77)
“This cigar was a masterpiece and I would highly recommend it for all levels of smokers. It is flavorful from start to finish with clean transitions. Intense flavors, that are not overwhelming, can be found in each third. I will be stocking up as soon as I know what it is.” –Estevan Z. (TheRealBanzi)
“Overall this was an okay smoke. The draw was tight the burn was wavy which I had to do many touch-ups. The cap came off during the smoking experience. There were some off charred bitter notes. At times there was a really night sweet tea with cherry notes that I really liked. The Retrtohale for me was way too intense of very strong black pepper.” –Chad M. (Chad Tchad)
“In the end, this experience was just good. The weird draw – which didn’t affect the tasting but felt noteworthy in the smoking experience – and a flavor profile that was fairly linear and missed a lot of my preferences lands this in the category of a well-made cigar that is probably for somebody, but I’m not so sure it’s for me.” –Bill C. (Bill)
