"Overall, this was a solid smoking cigar with a good medium bodied and strength-based profile. Constructions, draw, and burn performed fairly well as this smoke required a little more babysitting on the burn then most cigars do. Wonderful creamy notes took mainstage alongside leather, pepper, and nutty notes played smaller parts. This cigar is an easy recommendation or something that won’t blow your head off with big flavors, but not light enough to potentially bore you. In short, a perfectly balanced cigar to keep you interested in the nuances it provided. Two thumbs up!" -John A. (Bostoneo)
"Overall, this was mighty tasty. A wonderful mixture of leather, charred wood, stewed fruits and pepper led the way to make a winning combination. Combined with great construction, it makes this cigar a no brainer to pick up again to enjoy again!" -John A. (Bostoneo)
"During the first half of the first third, I wasn’t sure this was the cigar for me. Into the second third the aforementioned flavors of creamy baking spice, salted butter, and slightly savory paprika, mixed in with black coffee periodically, made for some great flavors. Retrohale was very pleasing throughout. The burn was razor sharp and the entire experience and construction were flawless. Overall a very good experience. PS… And that ash!" -Randy B. (randobush)
"Another great cigar that was a pleasure to smoke. Notes of sweet and bitter tea, honey, and burnt toast. Nice strong ash that hangs on for an inch or two. A cigar I'd want to have in my humidor and to share with friends. A nice after breakfast smoke." -Sean F. (fullermaine)
"I feel like this is a great stick if it wasn't for the construction problems. The opening light cedar and floral notes seemed to be leading into some nice buttery leather and nuttiness. Sadly, I only got hints of what could have been. The fact I kept having to put fire to this cigar lead to some strong pepper and smokiness and a super dried-out palate. I would certainly revisit this blend in hopes of a better result. " -Lauren S. (Lauren S.)
"For a Connecticut shade cigar, this was fairly enjoyable. There weren't any flavor transitions to speak of but the salted nuts and butter worked well together. Very mild in strength but it would make a good morning cigar or a cigar to start your day with. Coffee might overpower the flavors in this but I can see it being enjoyed with a milder coffee or chai tea. It didn't wow me but my palate tends to enjoy the darker stronger cigars." -Kevin J. "Overall, this was a wonderful straight-forward cigar with a medium to medium plus body, providing wonderful notes of almonds, leather, sweetness, and some pepper here and there. A few touchups were required to the wrapper, however, overall construction and burn were on par with a premium cigar. Clocking in with a smoke time of 90 minutes, you’ll need ample time to sit down & sip on this smoke. I’d recommend trying this one out, it may become your new favorite!" -John A. (Bostoneo)
"I would love to smoke this cigar again with an improved draw. The flavor notes were very nice but I dare say I missed out on the full experience due to the tightness. There could’ve been a little more oomph to the notes but it still was a pretty cigar to look at and a decent smoking experience." -Diana (ArmyRN)
Gurkha Cigar Group has announced that their Revenant Sampler Bags are shipping now to retailers. The Revenant was officially debuted at PCA 2021 with two wrapper options, Maduro and Corojo. This year the company decided to offer those cigars in a new Sampler bag along with a preview of the new Connecticut version of that blend.
"Overall, this was a good cigar, it started off better than it finished however. The flavors went from sweet tobacco and vanilla changing to a harsher sweet tobacco with the vanilla going away. The only other flavor transition I picked up was in the final third it gained a coffee and cedar taste. Had it not been for the issues of construction and the multiple relites it would have been much more enjoyable. I would definitely try this cigar again hoping for better performance as the flavors were decent." -Angel M. (Angel)
