Aganorsa Leaf (formerly Casa Fernandez) Signature Selection will be formally unveiled at the IPCPR trade show next month. The blend is a Nicaraguan puro using a rosado-claro Corojo ’99 wrapper over a Corojo ’99 binder and a blend of Criollo ’98 and Corojo ’99 tobaccos in the filler. The filler also uses a half leaf of the elusive medio tiempo priming. Media tiempo are tiny tobacco leaves that sometimes grow at the very top of a plant. They are very strong and flavorful.
Eduardo and son Max Fernández owners of Aganorsa Leaf, blended this series. All of the tobaccos used in Signature Selection were grown at one of Fernández’s farms, Agricola Ganadera Norteña S.A., also known as Aganorsa. Each box in the Signature Selection will individually numbered.
Signature Selection will first be shown off at the IPCPR trade show in July and will be rolled in four sizes: Robusto 5 x 52, Belicoso, 6 1/4 x 52; Toro, 6 x52; and a Corona Gorda, 6 x 44. The Belicoso will feature a special rounded, blunted head also known as a Conde 109 and the Corona Gorda will feature a fantail cap. MSRP Ranges from $9 to $12, and all come in 20-count boxes, except for the Corona Gorda, which will come in boxes of 25.
Production is limited to 500 boxes of each size and will begin shipping late July.
“Signature Selection is blended with our best, refined, aged tobaccos selected from our most exclusive lots in our farms in Nicaragua,” said Eduardo Fernández. “We are very excited to now share it with tobacco enthusiasts in the marketplace.”
