Crowned heads released the original Mule Kick in 2012 and was their first limited edition cigar. The cigar featured a higher priming Habano wrapper than the standard line and a tweaked blend. Only 5000 were made on the first release. The original blend was released again as a 2017 limited edition then a new blend in 2018 that used a Connecticut Habano Maduro wrapper.
Today, Crowned Heads announced the Four Kicks Mule Kick 2019 that uses the same binder and filler as previous years, but will now be covered with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper.
“Mule Kick is an LE that holds a special place in all our hearts.” Says Jon Huber, Crowned Heads co-founder. “We’re always looking towards not necessarily re-inventing the wheel, but now can we innovate and improve upon existing ideas. I’ve always maintained that Ernie (Ernesto Perez-Carrillo) is the master of Sumatra wrapper and once we smoked the samples, we immediately knew tat the Sumatra wrapper added another dimension of flavor and layer of complexity to the Mule Kick blend.”
A total of 2500 10-count boxes will be made for this round and each cigar sells for $10.95. Like many other Crowned Heads blends and all Four Kicks releases, the cigars are rolled at Tabacalera La Alianza, S.A. run by E.P. Carrillo. The cigar will begin shipping March.
