Owner of DD & Co. in downtown Hiram, Gary Weekly, looks forward to his upcoming event at his cigar store.
Cigar smokers and tobacco enthusiasts have a chance to learn how a brand of cigars is made as DD & Co. Cigar Lounge hosts a special event highlighting one of its products Friday.

The store has been open since 2008. They sell about 200 different types of cigars. Also customers can buy tobacco, pipes, lighters and cigar cutters.

The store is at 37 Beatty St., Suite 107, in downtown Hiram.

The business hosts periodic events in which it features a certain type of cigar, said owner Gary Weekley.

An event featuring Perdomo cigars is set for Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. This will be the first event of the year for the store, Weekley said.

Perdomo, a cigar company that manufactures hand-rolled cigars, will be represented by National Director of Sales Chris Harper, who will talk about the company and the products he sells.

“We offer promotional items if buy a box of cigars,” Harper said.

Customers can receive four-pack samplers of different cigars, a four-flame lighter, travel humidor or a Perdomo baseball cap.

Food for the event is being catered by the nearby Olive Tree restaurant in Hiram.

Weekley said he hopes the event will give customers a chance to try a new cigar and compare it to what they may usually smoke.

“They have a variety of different tobacco,” Weekley said. “They have different price points for everybody.”

The cigars range from $3 to $11 per cigar. For those not used to cigars there will be assistants on hand to help cut and light the cigars.

“It is really a gathering of people who enjoy cigars,” he said.

Customers can preorder Perdomo cigars to guarantee they will be able to purchase their favorites the night of the event.

“We are one of two Perdomo lounges in the state of Georgia,” Weekley said.

This provides them with the ability to receive shipments of products faster, he said. They also have wall-sized posters in the store depicting how Perdomo makes its products.

Store hours are Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.
