The new cigar Jas Sum Kral Nuggs will ship April 2019 to all retailers. The company says there is 20mg of Hemp Derived CBD in each cigar. Jas Sum Kral Inc. created a proprietary CBD solution with a laboratory that absorbs CBD at the buccal mucosa.
These cigars will come in boxes of 25. Each state has their own regulations and labeling requirement and Jas Sum Kral will follow for each. Each cigar will cost $12 MSRP.
It’s a pretty attractive cigar. The wrapper is slightly toothy to the touch; with tight seams, just a few medium sized veins running the length, and a well applied triple cap it looks like a well made premium cigar. There’s a nice overall weight but it’s not particularity heavy. I’m finding a light early/funky note on the foot and pre-draw but it’s not overpowering with a tobacco and pepper finish.
A sharp robusto sized cigar, tan in color with many small veins throughout its smooth wrapper. On the cold draw, flavors of allspice, cinnamon, and intense spicy earthiness makes itself well known. On the nose, the wrapper gives off faint leather scents while the foot exudes scents of “grass” like notes, freshly ground peppercorns, and oddly enough, Hawaiian Punch.
The retrohale is actually surprisingly nice with notes of cream and a kinda pine freshness. I’m not a huge fan of the draw initially. There’s a tobacco, paper, and slightly medicinal flavor with a slight pepper finish; together though, it tastes like a paper bag smells. The burn is razor sharp but the smoke output is fairly thin and wispy.
After an easy light up, initial notes of faint campfire, toasted marshmallow sweetness, and earthy spice create a pleasant mild medium body. A half inch into this third occurs a transition to a perfumed, woodsy, creaminess that is very interesting and unique.
There’s a slight sweetness that starts to build at the start of this third. It’s a little more pleasant than the previous third but still has a very earthy note to it. The smoke quality has improved a little too; I wouldn’t say it’s a chewy smoke but has a solid mouth feel. I’m certainly feeling the strength of the cigar now and my head feels a little wavy now.
The second third continues the trend of the perfumed wood notes with a new additional of an earthy grassy cream. The grassy notes sweeten as the cigar burns closer to the end of this third while maintaining this mild medium profile.
I might just be a little high on nicotine at this point but it’s gotten much better at the end. There’s a slightly sweet possibly vanilla note that’s coming through. Most of what I’m tasting is a strong earthy flavor and there is a slightly stronger note of pepper that has been almost completely absent so far. Somewhat lost in the finish is tobacco and leather on a somewhat impressive lengthy finish.
As we get into the final third, I notice a very interesting aftertaste that lingers on my palette, mountain dew… no I am not drinking it but this flavor reminds me of it distinctly. The aroma of the smoke reminds me of lightly scented Irish spring soap as I continue this unique journey. The flavor profile maintains the perfumed creaminess, except at a less intense amount of body.
If I’m being totally honest, I wouldn’t smoke this again. I have no interest in CBD oil or like products so it’s not really a selling point for me. It’s flavor profile was a little rocky in the beginning, but there was some solid flavors in there if you’re a fan of very earthy cigars. I don’t use CBD oil and I could definitely feel it halfway though; but for people that use it on a regular basis, I’m not sure if it would register as effectively for them. It’s a bit of a novelty for me but it did preform as a premium cigar and if it’s something you’re interested in give it a shot.
This was an interesting tasting and smelling cigar to say the very least. Obviously infused with oils, it was done correctly without making it smell and taste like hair tonic like some brands do. While JSK Nuggs remained mild-medium in body throughout, with little noticeable strength, it’s flavor profile was pleasant and relaxing, good for anytime of the day. Flawless construction, draw, and burn made smoking this robusto a joy as it did not need any babysitting. Overall a good, easy going, mild-medium smoke with unique flavors that won’t put the non-aromatic smoker off. Definitely something to try!
