Cigar Info
At the end of last year (2021) Serino Cigar Company announced a new division of the company, Serino Studio. The focus of this new division is using unique tobaccos, alternate packaging and different vitolas from their core line of products. The first in the new Studio Serino line was Studio Serino Elenor Rose, a regular production cigar. Anthony and his son Carson Serino are Beatles fans, so the name Elenor Rose is an homage to the song “Eleanor Rigby.” That happens to be Anthony’s favorite song from their album “Revolver” which also happens to be the name of one of the vitolas. The Eagle size is a reference to Carson’s favorite song on that same album, “And Your Bird Can Sing.”
This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience.
Studio Serino Elenor Rose is produced at La Corona Cigars, S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua. The blend uses an Ecuadoran Rosado wrapper with binders and fillers from Nicaragua, Peru, and Pennsylvania. Elenor Rose is packaged in 10-cound bundles and boxes of 10 and is available in three vitolas: Lady 48 5 ¾ x 48 (MSRP $8.75), Revolver 5 ¾ x 54 (MSRP $8.95), and The Eagle 5 ⅝ x 50 (MSRP $9.25).

Initial Impressions – Serino – Studio Serino Elenor Rose The Eagle
Appearance: 91
“The 5.5”x52-54rg perfecto comes all wrapped up in a medium brown wrapper with a nice auburn hue to it. It sports a triple cap that is flat on top and sits upon a narrowing shoulder. The open foot is tapered, almost to a point, and leads up quickly (about 3/4” up from the foot) to a girthy 54rg. It has a firm but somewhat lumpy pack but appears to be solid otherwise. Tight and nearly invisible seams throughout the exterior.” –Randy B. (randobush)
Aroma: 88
“Aroma out of the package was a strong sweet wet hay smell that faded fairly quickly. The foot was more of a straight sweet tobacco smell minus the wet hay it was very pleasant.” –Angel M. (Angel)
First Third
Flavor: 86
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“As the cigar starts off I get some spice, earth, and a hint of citrus. So far a bit of a tough draw.” –Jai P. (Jai)
“A fairly even mix of smooth earth, creamy nuttiness, and soft cedar on the draw to start. Light cayenne and white pepper on the finish. As the head opens, cedar picks up, with a hint of orange peel attached. Well balanced, but not necessarily exciting.” –Chris M. (Chris)
Second Third
Flavor: 89
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium
“Going into the second third the split in the wrapper did cause the burn to get a little sideways but corrected itself without any touch-up. The white pepper returned but in a milder fashion, sweet tobacco remained, however, the oak wood flavor has also mellowed greatly and continues to be a very creamy consistency which is something I very much enjoy. Towards the end of the second third, the oak is gone white pepper is still subtle, remains creamy now with a nuttier flavor maybe cashew. Very slight bitterness kicked in but not off-putting at all. Towards the end of the second third, the burn did go sideways requiring one touch up appears to be due to the splits in the wrapper. Also, the wrapper begins to split again towards the band.” –Angel M. (Angel)
“Going into the second third a slight tear in the wrapper leaf does not affect the performance at all, but will continue to run on down alongside a seam, until close to the halfway mark. Very minor issue. Still, super smooth draw, and an eloquent and enjoyable retro are the wow factors that I notice first, before the wow of good transition of the same flavors as first third, but amped up a tick. A little strength enters the fold l, as the ash drops at 2” in. Nougat, citrus zest, pine, baking spice, and an ashy pepper spice finish up the second third.” –Randy B. (randobush)
Final Third
Flavor: 87
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium
“White pepper is back and much more pronounced lingering in the mouth, sweetness has dropped but it’s still present. Still remain slightly nutty, white pepper has mostly taken over. Towards the end of the last third the pepper disappeared again and mellowed out to a much sweeter flavor tobacco similar to the second third. The wrapper again continues to split but did not affect the cigar in any major way.” –Angel M. (Angel)
“A mix of smooth earth, cocoa, and vanilla bean out front, nuttiness right behind. Cedar took a trip to the background, though the attached citrus lingers on the finish. The cayenne and white pepper, light to start, is even more subdued.” –Chris M. (Chris)
Overall Impressions – Serino – Studio Serino Elenor Rose The Eagle
Draw: 87
“The draw was slightly tight but OK, good smoke output, and the smoke remained cool throughout the cigar never really getting hot.” –Angel M. (Angel)
Burn: 92
“A few moderate burn corrections were required to keep this one from canoeing. It bordered on annoying at times.” –Chris M. (Chris)
Construction: 84
“Before the light. construction seemed fairly well however throughout the smoke, I continued to find splits in the wrapper once again requiring one simple touchup. The ash held on tight and never fell, I tapped off the ash after every third. If not for the multiple cracks in the wrapper, I would have rated the construction as good.” –Angel M. (Angel)
Overall Strength: Medium
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium
Experience Overall: 90
“Overall this was a pleasant cigar to smoke sensed a little nicotine buzz during the final third nothing off-putting, however, very enjoyable smoke I would definitely recommend this to friends who like a milder cigar. The cigar would go well with coffee and cream, or for the beer drinker maybe a blond ale style beer.” –Angel M. (Angel)
“If it wasn’t for the burn issues, this would have been a more pleasant cigar. Smooth transitions, with enough complexity to keep it interesting.” –Chris M. (Chris)
“I had to search for flavors over the spice. Occasionally there were notes of citrus, earth, and bread. Overall it was a dry smoke that left me with a headache.” –Jai P. (Jai)
“I really enjoyed this cigar with every puff, but one. There was one draw in particular, about midway through, that tasted very bitter, like ash. It was there for one puff and gone. I’d pick this cigar up again, and it would pair well with coffee after a big breakfast.” –Randy B. (randobush)
