Antigua Esteli Cigars has announced that they are changing their name to Segovias de Esteli. The company says the name change comes about because of a general rebranding and corporate restructuring. However, the original name was also the subject of a lawsuit filed in 2019 by J.G.G. Tobacco Holding Company Inc., the company owned by Jaime Garcia of My Father Cigars. The Lawsuit claimed that Antigua Estelí was too close to My Father’s La Antiguedad brand. Outside the U.S., the company will continue to operate under the Antigua Esteli.
Antigua Esteli Segovias will make their debut at the 2018 IPCPR trade show in Las Vegas. The cigars are Nicaraguan puros and made Robusto, Torpedo and Toro. A box pressed vitola will also be available. The brand launched about two years ago and have been gaining ground ever since. The Segovias feature Nicaraguan maduro and Habano oscuro wrappers, with top-priming binder and filler leaves.
Antigua Esteli Cigars will release Segovias at this years IPCPR 2019 trade show. It is offered in two blends, Habano Oscuro, using an Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper, and Maduro, Mexican Maduro San Andres wrapper. The rest of the blend uses tobacco from Nicaragua. It is described as medium to full-bodied and comes in three sizes: Robusto, Torpedo, and Semi Box Press Toro.
